No player impressed me more than Hunter Duncan Hunter Duncan 6'0" | PG Evanston | 2023 State IL . This is the third school he’s played for in the last year. It seems like he’s finally found a system to thrive in at Evanston. I saw so much explosiveness and confidence with Duncan’s game today. He was surely the difference maker in a a win over Kenwood.
Joshua Thomas Joshua Thomas 6'5" | PF Evanston | 2023 State IL , Evanston 2023
Thomas is another new Evanston name who I was really impressed with. Like Duncan, Josh Thomas just transferred in (from Stevenson). His athleticism was off the chart, and he scored 25 points against Kenwood. Evanston should be the favorites to win the CSL this season.
Ahmad Henderson Ahmad Henderson 5'10" | PG Brother Rice | 2023 State #291 Nation IL , Brother Rice 2023
I’ve followed Henderson for quite a while now. He keeps improving every time I watch him. He’s shown so much promise as a 5’9″ point guard and holds several mid major offers. Henderson dropped 23 points in a close game over Whitney Young, and 19 against Oak Lawn. His shooting, play making, and ball handling are elite.
Cameron Christie Cameron Christie 6'4" | SG Rolling Meadows | 2023 State #76 Nation IL , Rolling Meadows 2023
The performance of the day goes to Christie. He was a bucket-getter from all over the floor against Bloom. His confidence from beyond the arc was unbelievable. Pulling up for 3-pointers from numerous spots of the floor. Almost every bucket went in for him as he finished with 33 points.
Asa Thomas Asa Thomas 6'6" | SF Lake Forest | 2023 State #91 Nation IL , Lake Forest 2023
The best losing performance came from Thomas. He’s got all the tools to be a difference-making forward at a high D1 level. His stroke was terrific and he got buckets from all three levels. He finished with a game-high 33 points in a loss to St. Rita. Thomas would score 24 the next game against Homewood-Flossmor
Matthew Moore Matthew Moore 6'7" | PF Hillcrest | 2023 State IL , Hillcrest 2023
Moore began the game against Ridgewood with three nice finishes down low. He’s got nice build as a power-forward and shows no fear attacking the rim. Moore followed up those three finishes with a coast-to-coast finish in transition and a dunk. He made some more plays later on with a great block and had a nice dunk and post move on offense. He’s got lots of upside.
Calvin Robbins, Kenwood 2024
Robbins also made some athletic plays of his own for Kenwood against Evanston. He hit a three and followed it up with a big block on a dunk attempt. An and-one finish and had a breakaway slam in transition were just a few other moments that stood out from his game. He was terrific. Robbins would score 19 points the following game in a win over West Aurora.
Marcus Pigram Marcus Pigram 6'3" | SG Whitney Young | 2023 State IL , Whitney Young 2023
Pigram is poised for a breakout senior season. His game against Brother Rice was outstanding. He started with an and-one finish down low and another bucket inside. He also extended his range for a 3-ball. He found buckets inside and behind the arc, and had euro-step finish and filled a nice lane for a basket in the 2nd half to secure a comeback win.
