Two of the players featured are underclassmen that will be stepping into bigger roles as juniors this winter and are both going to be sought after by college coaches.
Tyler Simpson | 6’1” | G| Bridgewater-Rartian 2024
After learning the ropes as a freshman, Simpson exploded as a sophomore. Strong guard who gets at the rim, has a quick release on his shot and can hit it from deep. He can use his physicality to finish through contact. He’s had a very impressive spring with Team Miller. We caught a glimpse at Pittsburgh Jam Fest. He’s got good potential. Top games as a sophomore were South Plainfield(28), Immaculata(19)and Dickinson(18). He’ll have plenty of interest from colleges by his senior year and could possibly see himself end up as a scholarship level player.
Aleck Graf |6’0” | G | Watchung Hills
Graf did a little bit of everything well last year for the 21 win Warriors. He runs the floor well in transition, can hit from deep and finishes well around the rim with both hands. He came on strong as the season neared its close, going for a season high 16 against a good Ramapo team. He also added 9 in the nail-biting loss to Elizabeth in states.
Riley McCann| 6’3” | F | Watchung Hills
A two sport athlete who also plays Football, McCann played a role for the Warriors last winter. He’s a tough defender who has active hands and athleticism to block shots. His best offensive output was 14 against Rutgers Prep in the county tournament.
John Kelly John Kelly 6'7" | SF Rutgers Prep | 2024 State NJ | 6’6” | F | Hillsborough 2024
Kelly is a pretty athletic wing who handles the ball well and finishes strong around the rim. He’s patient in offensive sets and can shoot it well. He plays AAU for the NJ Panthers and has a good upward trajectory. His top game as a sophomore was 21 vs Immaculata. He had 15 in their 44-43 loss to Watchung Hills in states. He’ll have interest as he continues to mature and produce at the HS level.
