Chas Lewless (2024) – G 6’2 – Detroit King
Lewless got better as the weekend went on. Very quick first step and has an excellent change of speeds. Tight handle on the ball that has moves that are simple and effective as he gets to his spots every time he wants to. In the last game of the shootout, he was very aggressive and looked to score and showed he could do that at a high rate. I was also impressed with his passing this weekend as he made the right passes. Made the difficult ones look easy. He has very good height and length for a point guard that will do him well at the next level.
Matt Watkins Matt Watkins 6'2" | CG Perrysburg | 2023 State OH (2023) – G 6’3 – Perrysburg
Watkins plays with great confidence and leadership. He has really good size for a point guard which is what he played this weekend for the Jackets. Handled the ball very well and made the right plays with it. When he was aggressive he made scoring look easy. Got to the rim very often and made the three-ball consistently all weekend. A strong kid that also defended well.
Jonathan Coffey (2023) – F 6’6 – Detroit MLK
Coffey is a big strong kid that I want on my team. He understands the role and his skill set very well and plays within them. He is very good as the drop-off guy on the block when guards drive and his defenders help off. He quickly elevates to score and sometimes dunk on you. When he gets the ball in a post-up position he is aggressive but never forces anything. He is a monster on the boards on both ends. Very nice athlete and moves very well for his size.
CJ Hornbeak CJ Hornbeak 6'2" | SG Toledo St. John's | 2023 State OH (2023) – G 6’2 – St. John’s Jesuit
Hornbeak played the role of the old veteran leader very well this weekend for St. John’s. He lead by example by doing the bulk of the scoring and played great defense. Had multiple steals. Finished well and through traffic all weekend. I loved how many charges Hornbeak took as well.
Avery Hunt (2023) – W 6’5 – Perrysburg
Hunt impressed this weekend. He played inside and out. Very good catch and shooter. His size gives him the ability to shoot over people. He was very impactful inside as well as he used his strength to bully kids. A very wide frame that already has good size on it. Plays hard.
Ian Ioppolo Ian Ioppolo 6'6" | PF Mentor | 2024 State OH (2024) – F 6’6 – Mentor
Ioppolo had a nice weekend for himself. The 6’6 junior to be is someone who can play inside and out. He has some very nice size and length that allows him to be a bully inside against smaller defenders. He also is a nice athlete which makes it hard for a big guy to guard him on the perimeter. You can’t lay off this kid either as he will make you pay from deep if you give him space.
