It was an opportunity to see more NorCal prospects in a showcase setting. The event had prospects who will reclassify to the 2023 class and go to prep school, The 2023 Senior class was well represented with some players we hadn’t seen much of here’s a few from this event, along with a couple of good 2024 prospects.
Miko Bear 6’3 2023 SG of Eldorado HS.
Bear has a good stroke from behind the 3pt line. He hit 3’s in the variety, from the catch and shoot in the corner, he came down in transition off the dribble and he put up a few coming off set screens, then popping out. He moves to get open looks without the ball, sometimes freeing himself for an easy basket from the backdoor cut. He’s a wiry guard with decent handles, and shoots with confidence.
Xavier Moore 6’5 2023 Wing of Santa Teresa HS.
He’s on the thin side, and needs to be more aggressive. He has good length and a decent set of skills to be a solid player on the wings and in transition. He’s a good passer who can find open players, he handles well enough to get his own shot off the dribble at times. He can hit the paint jumper, high post, and short jumper in the corner. We’ll see more of him.
Luke Hyatt 6’7 2023 F/PF of Rocklin HS.
He has a good fundamental skill set working as a forward. He’s on the thin side but has good length and is active around the basket. He’ll finish with a good touch around the basket, tip ins, or he’ll throw one down with authority when the opportunity presents itself. He has the reach and awareness to go after blocks. He has a paint jumper.
Ryan Pettis Ryan Pettis 6'2" | CG Serra | 2024 State CA-N 6’3 2024 CG of Serra HS.
He showed us his combo guard abilities, with solid handles, vision and passing. He made the long pass up court in transition, he’s a ball mover, making the extra pass in the half-court. He he fed the post with good entry passes. He has the handles to get into the paint for floaters, and jumpers. He’ll pull-up for jumpers off the dribble and will hit the open 3. He has good footspeed.
Mario Williams Mario Williams 6'5" | SG Venture Academy | 2024 State CA-N 6’4 2024 SG of Venture HS.
A long prospect with an improving set of guard skills. He’s looking like a more balance prospect, that has improved his ball handling skills since the last time we saw him. He was aggressive attacking the paint, and playing through contact, he makes free throws. He’s a big guard that can score in different ways, a floater, off the dribble mid-range, and he can knock down 3’s. He’s a rising prospect in the 2024 class. He’s on The Wright’s Watch List.
Cruz Burrise Cruz Burrise 6'7" | SF Edison Stockton | 2023 State CA-N 6’7 2023 W/F of Edison HS, Stockton.
He’s an improving and versatile type player, who’s ready to show himself. He has length and good activity to be a player who can defend in the post and out on the perimeter. The same goes on the offensive side of the ball, we know he has the ability to knock down 3’s, off the catch and in transition. He can get extra points, and rebounds with extra effort in the post. He’s on The Wright’s Watch List.
Jaeden Hutchins Jaeden Hutchins 6'8" | PF Prolific Prep | 2024 State CA-N 6’7 2024 Forward Half Moon Bay HS.
There’s a lot to like about Hutchinson’s progressing game. He’s still growing and is filling his frame. His skills as a post area player are coming along nicely. He can use one dribble to get to the rim, he attacks well from the baseline and the high post. He’s understanding that he can do more if he plays a physical type of game. He’s a good rebounder and will challenge shots in the paint. We’ll see more of him.
