The event was held at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, and featured hundreds of teams from around the country. Several local teams participated in this event, which provided a terrific exposure opportunity for the players. Here’s a look at some of the standout players from the event.
CJ Shaw CJ Shaw 6'3" | SG Mojave | 2025 State #212 Nation NV 6’3 SG Mojave 2025 (#4PHN 2025) – Shaw looks like a player on the rise. Has the knack to get to the bucket and finish even when the entire defense is loaded up against him. He was his best in the clutch and put together multiple 30-point games helping the Rattlers to 3 wins during the weekend.
Gregory Burrell Gregory Burrell 6'0" | SG Desert Pines | 2024 State NV 6’1 SG Desert Pines 2024 (#18PHN 2024) – Burrell has always been a guy that plays hard. He showed an improved offensive skill set this week knocking down open threes. I thought he was ok on the defensive end, however, he has the physical tools to be dominant on that side of the ball.
Ryder Elisaldez Ryder Elisaldez 6'1" | CG Bishop Gorman | 2024 State NV 6’2 CG Bishop Gorman 2024 (#9PHN 2024) – Elisaldez has a good mixture of tangible and intangible traits. He showed an improved outside shot, knocking down multiple threes in multiple games. His athleticism and off-the-bounce playmaking are incredible, but a lot of times it’s just his willingness to win that separates him. He hit 1 legged runner at the buzzer in Gael’s comeback quarterfinal victory. (see below)
Exodus Ayers Exodus Ayers 6'2" | CG La Cueva | 2023 NLG 6’3 CG La Cueva 2023 (#1PHNM 2023) – Ayers was one of the best defenders I saw during the weekend. He’ll defend on ball, and combines great instincts with quick hands to get a ton of poke aways from help side situations. He’s got good size for the position and showed the ability to create for teammates.
Karson Roberts Karson Roberts 5'10" | PG Bonanza | 2023 State NV 6’0 PG Bonanza 2023 (#12PHN 2023) – I thought Roberts was good, not great, but he showed that he can still impact games when not at his best. I was impressed with his willingness to defend, and he managed to score in transition and when playing off two feet in the lane.
Mikey Lewis Mikey Lewis 6'3" | SG Prolific Prep | 2024 #72 Nation CA-N 6’4 SG Coronado 2024 – Lewis has good length and size for the position. I really liked his ability to score the ball using 1 v 1 skills. The 6’4 wing used several step-backs and fallaways to get buckets and was able to get out and finish well in transition.
John Mobley Jr John Mobley Jr 6'0" | PG Wasatch Academy | 2024 State #55 Nation UT 6’2 PG Bishop Gorman 2024 (#5PHN 2024) – On normal nights Mobley is a guy that makes shots, when he’s on like he was this weekend, he’s at another level. His handle, wiggle, and separation skills are underrated and his ability to make shots off the bounce is crazy. Behind his sharpshooting, the Gaels took home the Mayo Bracket Crown.
Taj DeGourville Taj DeGourville 6'4" | SF Red Rock Academy | 2024 State #203 Nation NV 6’4 SF Durango 2023 (#4PHN 2024) – Loved everything I saw this week from Degourville. His offensive skill set is vast, however, passing may be his number 1 talent. He’s a unique player with the strength to battle traditional 4s, and the ball skills to excel on the perimeter. I think that he showed that he’s a clear division 1 guy whose stock is only going to continue to rise.
Tylen Riley Tylen Riley 6'2" | CG Durango | 2023 State NV 6’2 CG Durango 2023 (#6PHN 2023) – Riley is a terrific two-way prospect that is starting to get on the radar of a lot of coaches. Defensively he has the long arms and attitude to dominate a game. When he was attacking downhill he was good, and when he added playing off two feet to his attacks, he was unstoppable. Is gaining interest from several schools, including GCU.
Daniel Jacobsen Daniel Jacobsen 7'2" | C Brewster Academy | 2024 State NLG 7’0 C LaCueva 2024 (#3PHNM 2024) – I thought Jacobsen did some good things. He showed a willingness to protect the rim and stayed in the play thanks to diligently running the floor. He showed improvement in his ability to finish around the rim showing a nice touch after snagging offensive boards.
