The event takes place at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, and will feature 100’s of teams from around the West Region. 5 Teams from New Mexico will also be participating in this event, which will provide a terrific exposure opportunity for the players. In this article, we take a look at some local players to keep an eye on.
Kenyon Aguino Kenyon Aguino 6'7" | PF Volcano Vista | 2025 State #257 Nation NM 6’6 PF Volcano Vista 2025 (#2PHNM 2025) – Aguino is a throwback big with a ton of skill. He has the chance to be one of the best prospects to come out of the state in years, and Section 7 just may be the catalyst. Looking to see how he matches up with some of the more athletic bigs at the event.
Sean Alter Sean Alter 6'9" | PF Volcano Vista | 2023 State NM 6’7 PF Volcano Vista 2023 (#4PHNM 2023) – Alter is an above-the-rim type player that can have an impact on games even when he’s not scoring. Similar to Aguino I’m looking to see how the big man plays against other athletic bigs. If he’s able to muscle in and grab rebounds, watch for him to catch the eye of scouts and coaches.
Daniel Steverson Daniel Steverson 6'2" | SG Cleveland | 2025 #315 Nation NM 6’2 SG Cleveland 2024 (#6PHNM 2024) – Steverson has the kind of frame and athleticism to turn some heads. Plays the game with good quickness, and likes to go downhill. I’m interested to see if he has the ability to turn the corner against other quick guards.
Ely Lovato Ely Lovato 6'2" | CG Sandia | 2023 State NM 6’1 CG Sandia 2023 (#5PHNM 2023) – Lovato is a crafty high IQ player that averaged nearly 13ppg last season. It will be fun to watch and see if and how he is able to get his shot off, against longer defenders and if he can finish in the paint. His shooting will also factor into his eval, as I’m looking to see if he can be utilized as a floor spacer as well.
Andrew Hill Andrew Hill 6'2" | CG Sandia | 2023 State NM 6’2 SG Sandia 2023 – Hill is a scoring guard that is effective running lanes and with the ball in his hands. He has the ability to play on or off the ball. I’m going to check out how good he is on the defensive side of the ball. Hill will be counted on to slow down some of the top PGs and scoring guards in the West.
Exodus Ayers Exodus Ayers 6'2" | CG La Cueva | 2023 NLG 6’3 CG La Cueva 2023 (#1PHNM 2023) – Ayers is coming off a phenomenal year, and has the athleticism and skill set to attract some eyes. He’s a good slasher and more of a scorer than a shooter. I think if he flashes some of his playmaking ability, he will pop onto somebodies radar at the camp.
Daniel Jacobsen Daniel Jacobsen 7'2" | C Brewster Academy | 2024 State NLG 6’11 C La Cueva 2024 (#3PHNM 2024) (featured image) – When you are nearly 7 feet tall, you’re going to attract some attention. Jacobsen will be looking to show that he’s more than a big frame. He’s a good rim protector and is willing to run the floor. I’m interested in how he scores and if he can keep up in games played at a fast tempo.
