Section 7: Oregon Teams and Players to Watch

The Section 7 Event takes place this weekend in Glendale, Arizona and college coaches from around the country - including those from NCAA Division I - will be in attendance at the 12 courts placed in State Farm Stadium to watch the action. Three teams from the state of Oregon will be in attendance and here’s a quick look at the top players these coaches will likely have their eyes on as they evaluate their future recruiting classes of 2023, 2024, and 2025. Lincoln - the Cardinals are the biggest team in the state and should have the size to matchup against opponents in Arizona. Head coach Heather Seely-Roberts’ twin sons lead the way. Moroni Seely-Roberts Moroni Seely-Roberts 6'6" | SF Lincoln | 2023 State OR (24.2 ppg, 9.5 rpg, 3.9 apg) is a 6-foot-6 forward who has the physicality to get buckets in the lane but is also able to step out and either hit the three or create off of the dribble. Brother Malachi Seely-Roberts Malachi Seely-Roberts 6'8" | SF Lincoln | 2023 State OR (14.0 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 6.0 apg) runs the point at 6-foot-8 and can really stroke the ball from downtown (.409 3pt%). Manning the middle is Graham Eikenberry Graham Eikenberry 6'10" | PF Lincoln | 2023 State OR (12.4 ppg, 8.7 rpg, 2.1 bpg, .671 fg%) who is not only highly efficient inside but plays with passion and runs the floor well for a big man. If that weren’t enough, rising 6-foot-9 junior Evan Heisler Evan Heisler 6'9" | C Lincoln | 2024 State OR (3.1 ppg, 1.4 rpg) will also be one to watch - he got valuable experience playing on the EYBL 16U circuit with the Rose City Rebels in the spring. Cascade Christian - The defending 3A champions will have a group of guys that not only include their returning players but a couple of others from the region. Rising junior big man Austin Maurer Austin Maurer 7'0" | C Cascade Christian | 2024 State OR is one of the top players in the state at any class and at 6-foot-11 he is versatile enough to step outside and make plays from the perimeter. There is no question a number coaches from D-I will be watching closely on the sidelines. The two newcomers to this particular team that will also garner attention will be rising 6-foot-10 senior big man Egan Shields Egan Shields 6'10" | C Ashland | 2023 State OR (10.0 ppg, 7.1 rpg, .567 fg% at Ashland) and 6-foot-3 combo guard Boden Howell Boden Howell 6'3" | CG South Medford | 2025 State OR (15.5 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 2.7 apg at South Medford). Lake Oswego - Head coach Marshall Cho brings his Lakers squad to the desert unfortunately missing a couple of his top guys who will be out due to injury - rising sophomore Winters Grady Winters Grady 6'6" | PF Lake Oswego | 2025 State OR and rising senior Max Archambo Max Archambo 6'3" | SG Lake Oswego | 2023 State OR will both be on the sidelines. Without those two the squad will be relatively inexperienced but they will unquestionably take the bull by the horns. Senior guard Owen Alles Owen Alles 6'2" | CG Lake Oswego | 2023 State OR leads the way and some younger players such as rising juniors Zane Fisher Zane Fisher 6'1" | SG Lake Oswego | 2024 State OR and Aengus Sutherland will certainly be ones to keep an eye on.
