I didn’t watch every Arizona team from the state, but I saw a good number of standouts.
Here are 56 players that caught my eye. We have seven reports with Small School Gems, Newcomers, Sleepers and the 2023-2026 standouts.
We move over to the 2024 standouts:
Anthony Batson Jr Anthony Batson Jr 6'3" | SG Notre Dame Prep | 2024 State #181 Nation AZ Notre Dame Prep
A scoring guard is an athletic marvel. He is only 6’3 but has an almost 6’9 wingspan. He is a downhill type of player but he can rattle off 3’s from the catch. He will rebound and block shots off the glass and is a stud in transition.
Bradey Henige Bradey Henige 7'0" | C Cactus | 2024 State #192 Nation AZ Cactus
The big man dominated once again. His hands, passing ability, shot blocking, ball handling and inside scoring are off the charts for his size. He seems to catch any pass in the post with soft hands and will score the ball efficiently. He can step out and hit the 3 plus moves fairly well in space for his size.
Braeden Speed Braeden Speed 6'3" | CG Brophy Prep | 2024 State AZ Brophy Prep (Pictured)
A big time defensive guard is steadily improving his shooting. He has a nice pull-up from mid-range and can make the three. He is a physical driver using his length, size and gifts. He is a good passer and he will post up smaller guards and go to work.
Luke Shaw Luke Shaw 6'3" | CG Valley Christian | 2024 State AZ Valley Christian
A decent sized combo guard with a baby face. He is still clearly growing and it wouldn’t shock me for him to get near 6’5+ like his two older brothers. He has one of the purer 3pt strokes in the state. The ball rotates exactly how it should and every shot looks the same. He had multiple 30+ games including 39 opening night. They won the Chip of their bracket.
Gabe Pickens Gabe Pickens 6'0" | PG Dream City Christian | 2024 State AZ Millennium
A physical ball handler and on-ball defender. He can make the catch-3 but is very difficult from getting downhill. He touches the paint often and then will throw the strike to a teammates shooting pocket. His speed in the open court is impressive and he is highly competitive. His ability to score through contact makes him a tough cover.
Donovan Beard Donovan Beard 6'2" | PG Dobson | 2024 State AZ Dobson
A scoring combo guard is long and skinny. He is shockingly still 15 years old and he can fill it up. He can get downhill with a burst and a tight handle. His pull-up from mid to the 3pt line is impressive. He can make plays but he needs to score on this team for them to have a chance to win.
Christian Warren Christian Warren 6'4" | SF Basha | 2024 State AZ Basha
A strong wing forward who is an elite passer. He made some impressive almost full court passes. He rebounds and will take it off the glass and push it up the court like a guard. He can hit the three, get downhill and score it through contact or get fouled. He is a multi positional defender and will dive on the floor for his team to make a play.
Christian Holly Christian Holly 6'1" | SG Phhoenix Prep | 2025 State AZ Millennium
A scoring guard is three level scorer. He can hit the catch-3, get downhill with euros and pull-up from mid-range. He has good open court speed and plays with energy on the ball defensively.
