Providence Day trailed Blue Ridge White 22-20 at the half but they kicked off the second on an 6-0 run sparked by some key plays made by Osvaldo Haynes II Osvaldo Haynes II 6'8" | PF Providence Day | 2025 State NC , Riley Allenspach Riley Allenspach 6'11" | C Providence Day | 2023 State NC and Jaxon Prunty Jaxon Prunty 6'6" | SF Lexington | 2024 State SC to get them going in their first victory. After their run, Prunty really got in a groove offensively, knocking down shots on the perimeter while Trajan Thompson Trajan Thompson 6'5" | SG Providence Day | 2025 State NC , another new face, made waves with his length and ability to finish on the break and shoot on the perimeter. Blue Ridge White didn’t go away quietly and at every turn, Prunty, Allenspach or Trey Horton Trey Horton 6'4" | SG Hough | 2023 State NC stepped up to make things happen when needed but in the end, Blue Ridge White took home the 52-49 victory. Prunty finished the game with 18 points to lead all scorers.
In their second game of the day, Providence Day got off to a much quick start against Virginia Academy as Trey Horton Trey Horton 6'4" | SG Hough | 2023 State NC kicked things off with a made 3-pointer followed by a Jaxon Prunty Jaxon Prunty 6'6" | SF Lexington | 2024 State SC 3-pointer and a Riley Allenspach Riley Allenspach 6'11" | C Providence Day | 2023 State NC layup. The Chargers led 12-4 before VA Academy would call a timeout in the first half. Allenspach had some big finishes around the rim while Horton knocked down three 3-pointers in the first half and Providence Day led 28-13 at the break.
VA Academy didn’t go away though in the 2nd half as they tied things up with less than a minute to go. Providence Day used their defense to hold on as their offense stalled a bit down the stretch with Trey Horton Trey Horton 6'4" | SG Hough | 2023 State NC winning the game on a steal and break away layup, 43-41. They were depleted with injury but still competitive nonetheless with a young group of six guys.
Trey Horton Trey Horton 6'4" | SG Hough | 2023 State NC showed he could be a presence on both the perimeter and in the paint for his squad on both ends. He took charges and looked to be a threat from deep at every opportunity but still maintained his ability to crash the glass and rebound, given his size and frame. Riley Allenspach Riley Allenspach 6'11" | C Providence Day | 2023 State NC showed his growing confidence as a shooter on the perimeter and finisher around the rim. Even on misses, he stayed with his shot on offensive rebounds and finished on multiple defenders in the scrum. Good things happened when he touched the ball. Osvaldo Haynes II Osvaldo Haynes II 6'8" | PF Providence Day | 2025 State NC was a new face that showed off his presence in the post. He’s a 6-foot-6 power forward that showed he could take up space and alter shots on defense and run the floor and make plays around the rim. Trajan Thompson Trajan Thompson 6'5" | SG Providence Day | 2025 State NC was another new face that showed off his range and presence as a defender for them while Jaxon Prunty Jaxon Prunty 6'6" | SF Lexington | 2024 State SC showed he could handle the lead guard duties and run the show when needed with his ability to knock down shots on all three levels.
