Day 2 against Blue Ridge School White started with Riley Allenspach Riley Allenspach 6'11" | C Providence Day | 2023 State NC getting the scoring going for the Chargers as he scored their first 7 pts. He’s playing with a lot more activity and confidence as a stretch-forward that can operate inside and out, keeping defenders on their toes in the process.
Trajan Thompson Trajan Thompson 6'5" | SG Providence Day | 2025 State NC got on the board with Allenspach with a 3-pointer of his own from the perimeter. Providence Day jumped out to an early 10-0 lead to kick things off.
While Allenspach scored 12 pts in the 1st half, his counterparts in Trey Horton Trey Horton 6'4" | SG Hough | 2023 State NC and Jaxon Prunty Jaxon Prunty 6'6" | SF Lexington | 2024 State SC got their offense going in their halfcourt sets. Prunty did a masterful job of finding Thompson on the perimeter, as he knocked down three 3-pointers in the first half as well.
Providence Day led 34-26 at the half.
In the second half, the Chargers kept their pace with Thompson and Allenspach finding easy buckets on the break. Their offense wore down the Barons as Horton showed he could knock down shots from 3-point range as did Prunty. By the end of things, Providence took home an easy 58-43 victory.
In Game 2 of Day 2, Providence Day squared off with National Christian Academy (NCA) and in the early going, it was a back and forth battle. While the Chargers led by just three at the half, they showed a lot more patience on offense in the second half and it showed, as they went on a run to run away with things eventually at 68-51.
Horton once again showed off his ability to find his rhythm from behind the arc. By the end of things, he poured in five made 3-pointers to the tune of 27 points and also snagged seven rebounds. He’s another prospect that’s also shown he can make plays for others, as he also dished out four assists. He’s slowly becoming a sleeper in the 2023 class with his growth.
Prunty has shown his growth as a playmaker at the guard role as he finished with 12 points seven rebounds and five assists in the win. Allenspach continued to show his presence in the paint with 21 points, five rebounds and three blocks.
As they get healthy approaching the 2022-23 season, they’ve got a solid group of guys that could make some noise in the NCISAA. They’ll be back in action on Sunday at 9:30 against Miller School and 1:10 against Mt. Zion Prep.
