As one of the best basketball camps in the United States, these athletes are looking to learn how to not only be great basketball players but learn how to lead a team. In this article, I wasn’t just looking for the most talented players, but instead trying to find the smartest players that you would want on any team.
Marshall Lewis – 5’11” – PG – Powell / 2024 (Powell, Tennessee)
He may not be the most talented offensive player, but he was the smartest player in the gym. Lockdown pesky defender, while on the other end he knows how to get everyone involved while putting his teammates in a position for success. As a traditional point guard, he uses his basketball IQ to make his teammates better and still keeps the defense honest with a high clip from the three-point arc.
Diesel Kahawai – 5’11” – PG/SF – Punahou / 2025 (Honolulu, Hawaii)
Plain and simple… you want this guy on your team. As an undersized forward for his age, he provides the grit and toughness that brings a group of kids together. Continued to prove that he can pick apart defenses possession after possession using his handle, subtle ball fakes, and his strength to the basket. He has all the tools to be successful on both sides of the floor.
Shea Mattox – 6’0” – PG/SG – Valley Christian / 2023 (San Jose, CA)
As a de facto point guard, he issues a defensive presence as an animal on that side of the floor. Picking up full-court on every possession, he seems to never run out of energy. He thrives with his mid-range pull-ups off of ball screens and continues to set up his teammates with his non-stop spark.
Carter Nichols – 5’10” – PG – Crane Union / 2024 (Crane, OR)
Coming off leading his team to an Oregon state title, this point guard brings intensity in a different way than the others. He was one the more reserved side as a leader, but man does he go about his business. Throughout the week he learned how to be more of a local leader and as he continues to implement that into his game, he will set himself up well be lead a team with his stellar passing, his quick jumper, and his in-your-grill defense.
David Hayes David Hayes 6'0" | PF Las Vegas Academy Of The Arts | 2025 State NV – 5’11” – PF – Las Vegas Academy of the Arts / 2025 (Las Vegas, NV)
A monster on the boards just like his grandfather, Elvin Hayes. He continued to attack the boards on every possession while finishing strong at the rim using his strength and size as a smaller forward. On the defensive end, he provided great intensity while communicating with his teammates with everyone in the entire gym able to hear. Looking for young talent on the rise, he is eager to learn and gets better after each drill.
