The three-day event was held at Bishop Gorman high school in Las Vegas, NV, and featured many of the top basketball media professionals and NBA scouts courtside. The overall camp MVP was Xavier Booker Xavier Booker 6'11" | PF Cathedral | 2023 State #4 Nation IN of Cathedral (IN) while Tru Washington of Mountain Pointe (AZ) and Baye Fall of Accelerated Schools (CO) took home the Top 30 game co-MVPs.
In this piece, I give my first five performers from the event. Remember, these five players are hand selected based on how I viewed them live at the event and put together in a way that would allow that specific team to play in a real game.
Devin’s Second Five
G Jeremy Fears Jeremy Fears 6'1" | PG La Lumiere | 2023 GA , La Lumiere (IN) – From the outset of the event, you could tell that he had that true point guard feel and was a willing passer and distributor to his other very talented teammates. The 6-foot-2 Michigan State-commit was one of the better signal callers in this event as his ability to play with pace, great court vision and unselfishness and pick his scoring spots made his squad a tough one to beat.
G AJ Johnson AJ Johnson 6'5" | PG Taft | 2023 #26 Nation CA-S , Taft (CA) – Johnson was one of the prospects who raised his stock the most as his smooth playmaking at 6-feet-5 opened the eyes of media and NBA scouts alike. The rising senior is one of those players who doesn’t get sped up under pressure and uses his change of speeds to get to his spots on the court. Johnson is very slight of frame, but he has shown improvements to his ability to create space from defenders to get his shot off and stay on balance when bumped on a dribble-drive.
G/F Isaiah Elohim, Sierra Canyon (CA) – There are few prospects who shoot the mid-range jumper better than Elohim. The 6-foot-5, class of 2024 wing, is adept to getting to his spots off the bounce and most of the time it’s an elbow jumper off the bounce. Elohim has a quick first step and great ball skills and footwork when creating space from a defender on the perimeter. The SoCal based prospect is also an elite downhill attacker and finisher in transition.
G/F K.J. Lewis K.J. Lewis 6'4" | SG Duncanville | 2023 State #30 Nation TX , Chapin (TX) – The term “three-level scorer” is often misused these days, but using it to describe Lewis is the perfect fit. The 6-foot-4 Arizona-commit has a deep bag of moves and shots to put the ball in the basket and he’s another player we saw who is just wired to score. Lewis uses his strength, athleticism and physicality to get to the rim and finish through contact, showed some impressive mid-post skill when presented with a mismatch and knocked down the three-point shot off the bounce and off the catch with consistency.
F/C Isaiah Miranda, Springfield Commonwealth Academy (MA) – Miranda made his biggest impact as a transition rim-runner and finisher. The fluid, athletic and bouncy 7-foot-1 big man consistently beat his defender down the court for easy fast break baskets, but also flashed some face-up game from 15-feet out and stepped behind the three-point and knocked down catch-and-shoot triples with time and space.
