Egan Shields Egan Shields 6'10" | C Colorado Prep | 2023 CO (2023 Ashland)
Shields was dominant for a busy Ashland squad on Saturday, contributing significantly in four matchups against top competition. During evening games against Tualatin and Summit, Shields led the Grizzlies in scoring with efforts of 17 and 21 points respectively. With a massive 6-foot-10 frame, the majority of Shields buckets come around the bucket, where he rarely misses. Nonetheless, he stepped out to bury two threes in each of his two games during Saturday’s evening session, and continued to shoot the ball well from the perimeter all weekend.
Izzy Golden Izzy Golden 6'0" | PG Ashland | 2023 State OR (2023 Ashland)
Alongside Shields, Golden was spectacular against Tualatin, scoring 14 points in a variety of ways. The 5-foot-11 combo guard was particularly deadly from outside, burying three three-pointers en-route to a convincing win over a 6A opponent. Golden was also smooth with the ball in his hands in transition, using his evasiveness to push the tempo for an Ashland squad that impressed.
Ryan Schleicher Ryan Schleicher 5'7" | PG Tualatin | 2023 State OR (2023 Tualatin)
For a Tualatin team that was without two key players, Schleicher stepped up in a big way, tallying 15 of the struggling Timberwolves’ 26 points. The to-be senior was quick off the dribble and finished well inside, providing the only consistent offense for the Wolves. Additionally, the 5-foot-10 point guard used his quick first step to get to the line throughout the game, converting five from the stripe.
Trey Saunders (2024 South Eugene)
As the Axe dominated Sprague 54-27, Saunders led the way in a balanced effort, scoring 14 points using a variety of pull-up jumpers. Standing at 6-foot, Saunders possesses a compact shot motion that does damage from all ranges. Against the Olympians, the to-be junior knocked in a three, converted a pair of mid range jumpers, and ran well in transition.
Liam Spencer (2023 Sprague)
For a Sprague team that struggled against the Axe, Spencer ultimately emerged as a do-it-all scorer, recording 17 of his team’s 27 points. The 6-foot-2 shooting guard had his complete offensive game on display, using a smooth handle and a deadly outside shot to carry the Olympians’ production. With the ability to heat up and score in flurries, Spencer proved himself as one to watch on Saturday.
