Esyah Pippa-White Esyah Pippa-White 6'2" | PG Gresham | 2023 State OR (2023 Gresham)
Pippa-White had another solid outing in Gresham’s second game. While the outside shot may not have been clicking as well, he was still virtually unstoppable getting to the basket and finishing. The rising senior also worked a little more on getting the ball to open teammates and had at least six assists that we counted to go along with his 22 points.
Uli Gutierrez Uli Gutierrez 6'4" | PF Gresham | 2023 State OR (2023 Gresham)
One beneficiary of Pippa-White’s passes was Guitierrez, who was beastly down low. The rising senior used his lefty shot to his advantage against defenders and showed some real toughness inside finishing through contact. He ran the floor and was rewarded with some easy points in transition as well. Gutierrez even hit a three for good measure. 21 points on the game.
Alexander Choi Alexander Choi 6'0" | SF Westview | 2024 State OR (2024 Westview)
Westview is running five guys in and out this summer but Choi definitely took advantage of his time on the floor. The rising junior was crafty getting to the hoop in finishing and was very active in the Wildcat full court press. While the majority of his points were on drives to the hoop, he showed good form in hitting a three as well and finished with a game-high 21 points.
Bogdan Chobu Bogdan Chobu 5'10" | CG Westview | 2023 State OR (2023 Westview)
We wouldn’t be surprised if Chobu is one of the Metro League’s top scorers this season. The rising senior has been excellent in Westview’s full court pressure which has led to a lot of easy buckets for him, and he has a pretty smooth shot from three. Chobu has some creative moves – on one score he dusted off a running left-handed hook in the lane for a score which was about as old school as you can get.
Carter Fortune (2024 Southridge)
In the final game of the day, Fortune was dominant as Southridge rolled over Sprague. The rising junior guard was practically unstoppable getting to the basket and finishing in a variety of ways, but also showed not only good touch but confidence in his jumpshot with a couple of catch and shoot threes. He finished the evening with 19 points.
Kaden Groenig Kaden Groenig 5'9" | PG Southridge | 2024 State OR (2024 Southridge)
Don’t let his smaller size and boyish looks fool you – Groenig is a flat-out killer on the court. The rising junior guard is exteremely quick off the dribble and has a variety of moves that keep defenders off balance. His shot is quick and sharp whether it’s the pull-up or from long range. Add in his ability to create for others and Groenig finished with an all-around night of 18 points and a handful of assists.
