In this article I’ll discuss the record that each team ended the weekend with and some additional notes on their performance.
Cincinnati Hughes: Hughes went 1-3 on the weekend, struggling to battle on the interior without Brandon Glass Brandon Glass 6'8" | C Cincinnati Aiken | 2024 State OH . Marvin Good Marvin Good 6'1" | CG Hughes | 2023 State OH was a bright spot and their Saturday performance with a four-point win over Metcalfe County (KY) and nine point loss to Western Hills (KY) are things to build on.
Princeton: The Vikings went 2-0 on Friday before falling by three to a talented DeSales (KY) squad. Keven Adorno Keven Adorno 5'10" | PG Princeton | 2023 State OH was a bright spot for Princeton, as the Vikings have some impressive guard talent.
Lakota East: Lakota East made it the furthest of any Ohio squad, reaching the final four of the 32 team bracket. Two 30+ point wins to start then a 13 point win over Jeffersontown (KY). In the final four contest they had a double-digit deficit that was slowly dwindling, but key late shots by Frederick Douglass (KY) was enough to eliminate the Thunderhawks.
Fairfield: Fairfield took down Ohio squads Preble Shawnee and Toledo Central Catholic before falling to 32 team bracket champion Indy Cathedral (IN). Fairfield had some impressive performances from 2025 prospects Kameron Sanders Kameron Sanders 6'3" | PG Fairfield | 2025 State OH and Gabe Clemmons Gabe Clemmons 6'10" | C Fairfield | 2025 State OH and will be a force once again in the GMC.
Preble Shawnee: After starting the weekend 0-2, Preble Shawnee made a bit of a run in the losers bracket by defeating Russell County (KY) and Deland (FL). Their game against Fairfield was also competitive for a majority of the contest. Mason Shrout Mason Shrout 6'4" | SF Preble Shawnee | 2024 State OH also earned his first division I offer from Wright State, a much deserved achievement for Shrout who was the highest ranked 2024 prospect without an offer to this point.
Toledo Central Catholic: Playing without star Chico Johnson Chico Johnson 6'2" | SG Toledo Central Catholic | 2023 State OH , who unfortunately tore his ACL in June, was difficult for Toledo Central Catholic this weekend. After defeating Kentucky County Day (KY) the Irish fell to Fairfield and Lake Minneola (KY) to end the weekend 1-2. I expect this team to be improved by the winter, once they are more comfortable playing without their star.
Hamilton: The Big Blue won their first game over Breathitt (KY) 63-55 before being blown out by Lyon County (KY) in their second game. Hamilton responded on Sunday with a competitive loss to Linton-Stockton (IN) who has one of the top 2023 prospects in Indiana, Joey Hart.
Huber Heights Wayne: The Wayne Train was rolling on Saturday with double-digit victories over Simon-Kenton (KY) and Linton-Stockton (IN) before it was quickly halted by Lyon County (KY) in the quarterfinals of the 32 team bracket. Wayne saw impressive performances from Lawrent Rice Lawrent Rice 6'4" | PG Huber Heights Wayne | 2023 State #184 Nation OH and Juan Cranford Jr, and will hope to have some role pieces step up between now and the start of the regular season.
