We had the opportunity to drop by on Saturday for a couple of games and here are the top performers we saw from two games – Lincoln over South Medford and Summit over Tualatin
Collin Moore Collin Moore 6'2" | CG Summit | 2024 State OR (2024 Summit)
Moore was absolutely dominant in Summit’s win and was practically unguardable. He used his superior strength to bully past opponents on the way to the hoop and finish near the rim but also knocked down some jumpers with his lefty stroke. As impressive offensively he was, Moore was equally effective defensively as he showed the versatility to guard Tualatin’s top guys both on the perimeter (Lake) and down low (Steppe). He finished with a game-high 27 points.
Pearson Carmichael Pearson Carmichael 6'6" | SF Summit | 2024 State #270 Nation OR (2024 Summit)
Complimenting Moore’s toughness well is Carmichael with his smooth approach to the game. The 6-foot-7 swingman nailed some silky smooth jumpers and got out in transition with some easy dunks. He used his length and athleticism to be a factor on the boards and defend the interior with some blocked shots. It’s not hard to see why his combination of length and skills is intriguing to college coaches. 25 points in the game for him.
Josiah Lake Josiah Lake 6'1" | PG Tualatin | 2023 State OR (2023 Tualatin)
After essentially blowing up in the state tournament, Lake has continued to shine this spring. He’ll have a much bigger offensive role this year at Tualatin and it’s clear he’s taking the opportunity by the horns. Instead of settling for outside jumpers, the rising senior was attacking the basket and using his leaping ability to score around the cup. He absorbed contact and was efficient in getting points from the line and finished with a team-high 20 points.
Jaden Steppe Jaden Steppe 6'8" | SF Tualatin | 2024 State #289 Nation OR (2024 Tualatin)
Steppe had a solid effort where he showcased his ability to score both inside and out. The 6-foot-7 forward scored a couple of buckets down in the post but also stepped out to display his touch from the perimeter, hitting a couple of jumpers including a three. He finished with 11 points.
Moroni Seely-Roberts Moroni Seely-Roberts 6'6" | SF Lincoln | 2023 State OR (2023 Lincoln)
As always, Seely-Roberts was getting buckets. The 6-foot-6 forward used not only his body but his willingness to get physical to earn buckets near the hoop, whether it was posting up or creating off the dribble. And when he was left open, he drilled a couple of threes from his favorite spot right at the top of the circle. 21 points on the night for the rising senior.
Graham Eikenberry Graham Eikenberry 6'10" | PF St Andrew’s RI | 2023 State OR (2023 Lincoln)
South Medford had no one to match up heightwise with Eikenberry so as usual, the 6-foot-11 post did things such as keep the ball high that didn’t negate that advantage. This allowed him to be a force on the boards and he was able to be active without fouling. Eikenberry also ran the floor which led to some easy scores including one thunderous dunk. He finished with a team-high 25 points.
Malachi Seely-Roberts Malachi Seely-Roberts 6'8" | SF Lincoln | 2023 State OR (2023 Lincoln)
Back to having the ball in his hands and handling the point was Seely-Roberts, who showed good confidence in leading the Cardinals. Of course his long-range shooting ability must be mentioned as the 6-foot-8 rising senior was simply on the mark from three, hitting five total, both off the catch-and-shoot and pulling up in transition. In total, he would up with 19 points.
Boden Howell Boden Howell 6'3" | CG South Medford | 2025 State #394 Nation ID (2025 South Medford)
After a more balanced attack last season, the offense will likely be geared more toward Howell getting more shots and that certainly appeared to be the case on Saturday. The rising sophomore was looking to score early and often, launching daggers from long range or using his dribble to create and length to finish. At the game’s end, Howell had scored a game-high 30 points.
Jackson Weiland Jackson Weiland 6'0" | PG South Medford | 2024 State OR (2024 South Medford)
Hampered by a sprained wrist, Weiland was essentially unable to shoot – his only field goal came on an uncontested layup and he shot his free throws left-handed. There’s no question the Panthers could have used his marksmanship from the outside but even without scoring, he made an impact by taking good care of the basketball and finding teammates for open shots as he probably had double figits in assists.
Drew Hall Drew Hall 6'3" | CG Basha | 2025 State AZ (2025 South Medford)
With Weiland unable to get many buckets, it was up to Hall to step up and he did. The rising sophomore nailed some open jumpers but also used a crafty dribble to get himself free from his defender for some mid-range and buckets at the hoop. Hall wound up with 25 points.
