Continue ReadingOn Saturday morning I had the chance to take in a few games at the Warren Central High School Shootout. A wide variety of teams from across the state took part in the event including some top prospects in the Prep Hoops Indiana rankings. Here are some of the takeaways from the first event of scholastic schedule for the month of June.
- Dylan Moles Dylan Moles 6'3" | PG Greenfield-Central | 2023 State IN (Greenfield-Central H.S. 2023) continued his strong shot-making from the spring. The 6’2″ guard is one of the best jump shooters in the state with quick elevation and a silky-smooth shot. He scored 15 minutes in a morning win over Heritage Christian.
- Sticking in the Cougars backcourt, Braylon Mullins Braylon Mullins 6'6" | SG Greenfield-Central | 2025 State #123 Nation IN (Greenfield-Central H.S. 2025) is looking a little taller at a legit 6’3″-6’4″. He is incredibly polished skill wise for his age and simply doesn’t seem to get sped up with the ball.
- Jayden Pinkston Jayden Pinkston 6'6" | PF Southport | 2023 State IN (Tindley H.S. 2023) is one of the most athletic prospects in the state of Indiana. At 6’5″ on the wing he also has good positional size. His shot is looking a little more smooth as well from the perimeter.
- One of the pleasant surprises of the day was 6’0″ guard Eric Troutman Eric Troutman 6'1" | PG Liberty Christian | 2023 State IN (Liberty Christian 2023). He consistently penetrated the defense making plays for himself in the intermediate range and also dishing to teammates inside. Very quick with the ball.
- 6’4″ forward Grant Luebbe (Northeastern H.S. 2023) was a big part of the Knights remaining competitive for the full 32 minutes against Lawrence Central on Saturday morning. The versatile athlete can play out on the wing with good driving ability but also has the strength to post up inside. Excellent defender.
- The backcourt duo of DaJohn Craig DaJohn Craig 6'1" | PG Lawrence Central | 2023 State IN (Lawrence Central H.S. 2023) and Kamari Jones Kamari Jones 6'4" | SG Lawrence Centra (IN) / Hilcrest Prep (AZ) | 2023 IN (Lawrence Central H.S. 2023) can really get hot in a hurry. They took over down the stretch when the game was on the line to defeat a tough Northeastern team 50-40 to start the day on Saturday. Two of the best under-the-radar scorers in the Indianapolis area.
- I continue to be impressed with the tandem of Jack Cherry Jack Cherry 6'1" | PG Guerin Catholic | 2024 State IN (Guerin Catholic 2024) and Lucas Parker Lucas Parker 6'4" | SF Carmel | 2023 State IN (Guerin Catholic 2023). Cherry is a good all-around playmaker with a high basketball IQ. Parker has good size out on the wing a 6’4″ and can really shoot. Guerin Catholic played without one of their top scorers in junior guard Robert Sorensen Robert Sorensen 6'0" | PG Guerin Catholic | 2024 State IN , but still took down a scrappy East Chicago Central squad.
- Myles Colvin Myles Colvin 6'5" | SG Heritage Christian | 2023 State #51 Nation IN (Heritage Christian 2023) showed flashes of why he is one of the top prospects in the state of Indiana. The future Purdue Boilermaker can get hot in a hurry from beyond the arc with deep range and plays above the rim with the best of them. Teammates Dylan Doss Dylan Doss 5'10" | PG Heritage Christian | 2023 State IN (Heritage Christian 2023) was solid on Saturday as well. Tough 5’9″ point guard that can really guard the basketball.
