Chase McCarty Chase McCarty 6'5" | SG IMG Academy | 2024 State #71 Nation FL (6’6/Shooting Guard/2024)
School: Westminster Christian Academy
Instagram: Chase___mccarty
Twitter: @Chasemccarty21
Chase is the #5 ranked player in the class of 2024 in Alabama. He has very good size for a guard and very solid athleticism, as he has ideal height for a wing, as well as good length to accompany his height. He has a solid frame, and all of what I have mentioned makes him a big guard that is hard to deal with on the offensive end of the floor. He is highly competitive and plays each possession with intensity and passion. He is a high-volume shot taker and is at his best when he slashes to the rim, looking to take advantage of his nice finishing moves in the paint and at the rim.
His ability to create his own shot and shoot the trey ball makes him a tough player to defend in one-on-one situations.
He has the ultimate green light for his team and is efficient with his opportunities. In the 72-50 win over Johns Creek (GA), he finished with 26pts, with 6 coming from behind the arc.
He Currently Holds Offers From: Alabama, Georgia, Cincinnati, Ole Miss, Alabama A&M, Houston
School: Blessed Trinity High School

Brigham had an impressive performance in a 65-61 victory over Buckhorn (AL), finishing with 22pts. Brigham immediately stood out to me because of his physical play and intentions of asserting his will on the game. When Buckhorn aggressively defended him, he did not allow the physical play to rattle him. He matched their physicality with his physical play and skill set. He showed his ability to play with his back to the basket as well as his ability to step out and attack out of the face-up.
He was effective finishing over both shoulders and often found himself at the charity stripe as Buckhorn had no answer for him in the paint.
e is a player that has an endless list of what he can do offensively as he can pass, shoot, go off the bounce, post up, set screens, and the list goes on. Defensively, he made his presence felt as he contested shots and provided toughness as a post defender.
He Currently Holds Offers From: Wofford, Samford, Belmont, Drake, Indiana St, Lipscomb, Toledo, Furman
School: Grovetown HS
Instagram: 35.derrion
Twitter: @35derrion
One of the most exciting players on day two was Derrion. He is a strong wing player that brought it on both ends of the floor. He plays with great poise and has a high level of understanding of the game. Offensively he uses his big frame to initiate contact and carve out space when attacking off the bounce. One thing that stands out with Derrion is that he is an excellent passer. He is a big-time playmaker and makes everyone around him better. He appeared to be the most comfortable when he was orchestrating for others by guiding them into the best place for production. Derrion gifts as a passer are apparent, and just when you thought that passing was his primary offensive tool, he showed that he has a toolkit loaded with offensive weapons.
Derrion doesn’t depend on scoring to be seen, but he can score when the time comes and is needed.
In the 51-41 win over Huntsville (AL), Derrion finished with 4pts, but his impact on the game was his orchestrating and passing. He is a high major talent that had a mature performance and is the one reason why people have made Grovetown the favorite to repeat next year.
He Currently Holds Offers From: Alabama, UGA, Georgia Tech, Georgia State, Auburn, Kennesaw, Mississippi, Florida, Xavier, Cincinnati, LSU, Missouri
RJ Johnson RJ Johnson 6'3" | PG Grissom | 2023 State #215 Nation AL (6’4/CG/2023)
School: Grissom HS
Instagram: rjjohnson_11
Twitter: N/A
RJ is the #2 player in the 2023 class in Alabama. He had an impressive weekend at the #NHSBCA SE Regional Live event and continued to welcome the offers being extended to him. He is a fluid scorer that can easily give you a 20-piece whenever he steps onto the court. In the match-up against Jonesboro (GA), there was no consistent answer for RJ. He used his strength and intelligence the dominate off the bounce. He punished defenders off the bounce as he initiated contact on the drive and at the rim. He thrived in the open court as he put pressure on the rim and annihilated the rim as he was a ferocious dunker that got the crowd on their feet with a series of back-to-back dunks.
He is a hard-nosed player that is a very talented scorer, aggressive off the bounce, and has a knack for getting in the lane and scoring in traffic.
With the sideline full of coaches, he showed all watching what he is capable of bringing to their program. In the 42-45 loss to Jonesboro (GA), RJ finished with 21pts.
Salim London Salim London 6'2" | CG Hoover | 2025 State #256 Nation AL (6’4/CG/2025)
School: Hoover HS
Instagram: leemlondon
Twitter: @Iamsalimlondon
Salim is the #1 ranked player in the class of 2025 in our Prep Hoops state rankings. He lived up to the billing throughout the weekend as he was a force to be dealt with. He functions as a triple-threat player that contributes as a shooter, passer, and driver. He is tough off the bounce and finishes well in the paint with touch. He is tough to guard as he has a quick first step and has the strength to absorb contact while attacking off the bounce. His game draws fouls as he puts a lot of pressure on defenders in one-on-one situations. He produced at a high level the entire weekend as he is a real 3-level threat.
If he continues on this trajectory, we could be seeing the making of a high major prospect.
As I watched him against Greenforest (GA), he showed that he is a ferocious playmaker that played with a lot of confidence in front of a sideline full of college coaches. In the highly played-out contest against Greenforest, Salim finished with 16pts, 9 coming from behind the arc. As he continues to work in the weight room and develop his body, it will help as he continues to expand his game.
He currently holds offers from: Alabama, Ole Miss.
Maurio Hanson (6’7/Power Forward/2024)
School: Julius Chambers HS
Instagram: slimeballmaurio
Twitter: @hansonmaurio
Maurio was arguably one of the most versatile and effective post players I saw on day two. In the match-up against Parkview, he was efficient from 13-17 feet and was very productive in that area throughout the contest. He showed excellent hands in traffic as he secured several passes that did not put him in spots to be effective, but he managed to catch the tough passes and keep possessions alive. He showed that he can function as an initiator and a scorer as he started breaks off the defensive glass and showed his ability to see the floor and make good decisions with the ball in the open court.
He took advantage of the stage and showed his athleticism, agility, and footwork.
He has a strong game and has the opportunity before him to have an outstanding junior year, positioning him to be an attractive prospect in the ’24 class. In the 46-42 win over Parkview (GA), he finished with 24pts.
Dominque Dion Morris (6’1/PG/2023)
School: Central Gwinnett High School
Instagram: nitiqueeeee
Twitter: @Dominqu55687253
Dominque is a pass-first PG that is at his best with the ball in his hands and the freedom to orchestrate and create. He is a reliable ball-handler and was very good in ball screen action. He knows how to control the pace of a game as he pushed the pace of play when the numbers favored his team, and he slowed the pace when his coach wanted to run a certain set. He played with tremendous energy and showed off his decision-making and ability to get the rock to his teammates in spots where they could easily produce.
He is a heady PG that was one of the most notable floor generals on day two.
Defensively he stood out because of his instincts and quick hands. When all is said about Dominque, it has to be said that he is a player that plays both ends of the floor with great energy and effort.
Caleb Holt (6’5/Shooting Guard/2026)
School: Buckhorn HS
Instagram: Iam_caleb_holt
Twitter: N/A
Let me share a little secret with you, but you promise you cannot tell anyone. When we get ready to put out the 2026 state rankings for Alabama, here is your number one ranked player. Caleb is an elite-level athlete that continued to show his offensive prowess. He gets it done at all levels, and the level of difficulty with some of his shots that he takes and make leaves you in awe. His explosion off the bounce and ability to finish at the rim with his leaping ability is one thing that leaves defenders in a very compromising situation. He continues to show his ability to knock down the trey ball, which makes him one of the biggest offensive threats I saw on day two.
Already with significant varsity experience, he is not afraid of the moment when the lights are shining the brightest.
With college coaches all around the court watching, Caleb showed why he is one of the best emerging players in the country as he did not back down from big moments late in the game and took big shots in the match-up against Blessed Trinity (GA). Caleb poured in 22pts as his team came up short 61-65, but all in attendance watching left knowing that he is an emerging prospect to keep an eye on. As he falls in love with the weight room and begins to get a stronger upper body, he is going to be a very tough cover.
He Currently Holds Offers from: Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee State, UAB, Tennessee Tech, Ole Miss, Georgia
