Newcomers
Elijah Groves Elijah Groves 6'4" | SF East Robertson (football) | 2024 State TN – East Robertson / Team Mookie
Firstly, Groves does not live in Davidson County, though he runs with Team Mookie. It is understood that he loosely fits into this article’s purview, but there will not be an entire story here on just Robertson County’s newcomers. So, he will be included here.
Insanely athletic. Elijah is the younger cousin of Taylor Groves, the reigning TSSAA State Tournament MVP and State Champion. Elijah made TSSAA Division 1 Class 1A All-Tournament Team, thanks largely to his rebounding and defense during the season’s final weekend.
Dillon Lorick Dillon Lorick 6'1" | SG Lipscomb Academy | 2024 State TN – Lipscomb Academy / NYBA
Powerful body.
Nic Hyche Nic Hyche 6'2" | SG Ensworth | 2024 State TN – Ensworth / STARS-Nash UA-Rise
Nic Hyche Nic Hyche 6'2" | SG Ensworth | 2024 State TN catches the ball high and releases high. It is a shooting motion without any “junk” in it.
Nic will see more shots and more responsibility for Ensworth after Malik Dia graduated, and he was already a focal point of the Tiger offense. STAR-Nashville 16u Coach Jeff Laidig said, “Second-leading scorer at Ensworth this past year. Incredible athlete. Really, really good scorer. I think he will have a breakout year at Ensworth this year. He does play football. He is not playing this year.”
Nic submitted a Personal Statement on a recruiting website, to display his viewpoint on basketball. This is a portion: Basketball requires and honors hard work and that’s where I always strive to separate myself. I get up before school to work on skills. I believe in the process and know there is no other way to find success.

Maddux Routh Maddux Routh 6'5" | SF C.P.A. | 2024 State TN – C.P.A. / Tennessee Tigers
Maddux is a truly unique prospect. He stands about 6-foot-5 and showcases many of the same skills that Matt Thurman (Franklin/University of Alabama-Huntsville) once did at the high school level. He has the ability to catch-and-shoot, handle just a little, and score down low albeit below the rim. He is not a rim-shaking big or anything. Maddux scores on bigs with more guile than explosiveness.. The agility is interesting though. Routh is not stiff or immobile. He can be a D3 wing.
Mahoney Daunic Mahoney Daunic 6'1" | SG USN (baseball) | 2024 TN – University School-Nashville
Mahoney Daunic Mahoney Daunic 6'1" | SG USN (baseball) | 2024 TN (University School Nashville) is a strong shooter for USN. He made about half a hundred from deep during his sophomore season. To develop his game, Daunic must hit the weight room and bulk up. The game needs to round out and become more multi-faceted. He also plays baseball, often as an infielder.
