Taison Chatman Taison Chatman 6'4" | PG Totino Grace | 2023 State #35 Nation MN of Totino-Grace (6’4” Guard – 2023)
Taison continued to prove that he is the number one player in the state of Minnesota this past weekend. His game is so smooth and the way he can change pace is mesmerizing. He is so unpredictable with when he will shoot the ball as he can hit shots fading to either side. Some of the shots he made are on a pro level and whoever ends up with him is getting one of the best scorers I’ve ever seen at the high school level. He also showed off his improved athleticism as he had some very impressive dunks in traffic. Chatman and TG will be looking to go back-to-back this season.
Jack Robison Jack Robison 6'7" | SF Lakeville North | 2024 State #158 Nation MN of Lakeville North (6’5” Guard – 2024)
Jack is the definition of an all-around scorer. He can knock down shots from deep, as well as weaving his way into the mid-range area with a pull-up jumper. His build allows him to shoot over defenders with his long arms and lanky frame. He also impressed me with some pretty finishes at the rim as well. He took over in the Panther’s matchup with Totino-Grace with Jack connecting with several second half three-pointers, punishing the defense for giving him any space. Robison currently holds offers from Minnesota, Wisconsin, and St. Thomas, but has heard from many others.
Jackson McAndrew of Wayzata (6’8” Forward – 2024)
Jackson has a chance to blow up this upcoming season. He has the perfect frame for an elite stretch four at the next level as colleges are already getting familiar with him. He has an extremely quick jumpshot, making it very hard to get a hand up with a good contest. What kind of surprised me as well was his on-ball defense from the perimeter. He was causing issues for opponents and even ripped an opposing ball handler and took it all the way for a fast break layup. He also had a nice finish at the rim following a nice pump fake and dribble drive. I really like Jackson’s game and he will be a prospect to watch at the high major level.
Chiddi Obiazor Chiddi Obiazor 6'5" | PF Eden Prairie | 2023 MN of Eden Prairie (6’6” Forward – 2023)
Chiddi was a beast in the paint this past Saturday at the Minnesota Team Camp. His 6’6”, 245 pound build is so hard to matchup with as he is quick like a guard, but can also out-muscle you down low. He had some moments where he would go coast-to-coast and make it look easy with a finish on the other end. Obiazor has all of the tools to be an impact collegiate basketball player. However, his recruiting as a football player has started to heat up as of late. He has received offers from Akron, Incarnate Wood, and Tulane all in June. I am still not sure what his plans are after high school, but he has been dominant on both the gridiron and the hardwood.
Patrick Bath Patrick Bath 6'9" | C Totino Grace | 2023 State MN of Totino-Grace (6’9” Forward – 2023)
Patrick looks much improved coming off a state championship run with Totino-Grace last season. He scored the ball very efficiently, doing a great job of getting to his spots and not forcing the ball. Bath dominated in the post with a wide variety of different moves. He really likes the hook or fade away where he elevates very high off the floor, making it very difficult to get a good contest. Patrick will have to take on a much larger role in the scoring and rebounding departments this season with the departures of Demarion Watson and Ahjany Lee.
Jt Thornton Jt Thornton 6'4" | SF Burnsville | 2023 State MN of Lakeville North (6’4” Guard – 2023)
JT has to be one of the shiftiest players in the state right now. He is so difficult to stay in front of when the ball is in his hands. He can change directions so quickly and can consistently finish at the rim at full speed with either hand. He regularly catches defenders off guard, attacking the rim at full speed right off the catch from a pass. He is very unique with the way he finishes at the rim as well. He can bump the person guarding him, moving them out of the way for an easy finish or he can use his athleticism to rise above defenders and finish over them. He will be a key piece for the Panthers this season, as they make a run at state.
Dothan Ijadimbola of Totino-Grace (6’4” Forward – 2026)
A new transfer for the Eagles is incoming freshman Dothan Ijadimbola. Totino-Grace is stacked once again this year, so I don’t know how many varsity minutes he will see this upcoming season, but he really caught my eye with what he was able to do with what was given to him. He did not play scared or back down whatsoever, handling the ball in important situations and getting to his spots in the mid-range, knocking down some jumpers. He did not have a chance to totally show it off this past weekend, but I know that Dothan is one of the bounciest incoming freshman I have ever seen. He has a sky-high ceiling and reminds me a lot of Prince Aligbe when he was younger.
