Forty Iowans are among the players who will be in attendance. In this article, we take a look at the wings and bigs from the Class of 2024 and 2025 that made the cut and will play this weekend.
Caden Wilkins Caden Wilkins 6'7" | SF Bettendorf | 2024 State #196 Nation IA (Bettendorf)
The next high-major player to come out of the state is likely Wilkins, who is garnering interest from a slew of Power 5 programs in the Midwest with his three-level scoring ability. A 6-6 wing who makes the game look easy, he’s a high IQ offensive player who moves really well off the ball and does a nice job using his physical frame to power through contact for finishes around the rim. He’s a knockdown shooter off the dribble and the catch and has steadily developed his ball-handling and playmaking. He has a killer instinct as a scorer and knows when to take over.
Kareem Earl Kareem Earl 6'5" | SF Iowa City West | 2024 State IA (Iowa City West)
Earl is coming off a really strong spring with the Iowa Barnstormers after a bit of an up-and-down sophomore season at West. He’s an athletic 6-5/6-6 wing who can score from all three levels and is always under control. He has an innate ability to get to his spots and doesn’t force anything. He shoots it well off the catch and can bully smaller defenders en route to the rim.
Cade Courbat Cade Courbat 6'8" | PF Cedar Falls | 2024 State IA (Cedar Falls)
Courbat is oozing with potential as a dynamic two-way athlete. He’s super bouncy and can provide highlight-reel plays by finishing above the rim and coming from nowhere to block shots. He has a ton of versatility on the defensive end with his ability to switch onto smaller ball-handlers or protect the paint. Offensively, he’s still a bit of a work in progress, but his handle has improved and he’s become more assertive, looking to attack the defense, putting the ball on the floor and exploding to the rim for finishes. If he can add some range to his game with any sort of consistency, watch out.
Mason Costello Mason Costello 6'3" | SG Waukee | 2024 State IA (Waukee)
A confident shooter and strong ball-handler who can create his own shot, Costello is a pure scoring threat with good size and length. He gets the ball into his shooting pocket quickly off the dribble and can impact the game on the defensive end with his length.
Tyron Wright Tyron Wright 6'6" | PF Roosevelt | 2024 State IA (Des Moines East)
Wright is an ELITE rebounder with a non-stop motor. A 6-6/6-7 big man with athleticism, he averaged 13.7 points and 12.7 rebounds a game as a sophomore for the Scarlets, shooting nearly 55% from the floor. His offensive game is largely limited to stuff around the rim right now, but he really improved as a finisher as a sophomore, and if he can add a face-up game to his arsenal, he could become a really intriguing prospect.
Jack McCaffery Jack McCaffery 6'8" | SF Iowa City West | 2025 State #70 Nation IA (Iowa City West, 2025)
The youngest son of Iowa head coach Fran McCaffery figures to be one of the elite shooters in Iowa’s 2025 class, and when you pair that with his 6-8 and growing frame, you have the makings of an elite collegiate prospect. He moves well off the ball and has unlimited range on his jumper. As he continues to fill out and develop his handle, he’ll become a really good three-level scorer.
Kiki Deng Kiki Deng 6'4" | SG Valley | 2025 State IA (Valley, 2025)
A hyper athletic 6-4 wing who is a terror in transition, Deng has a ton of potential on the defensive end with his athleticism, length, and quickness. He put together a really strong freshman season with Valley and has followed that up with a good spring with D1 Minnesota. He’s a capable ball-handler and decision-maker who can get his own shot or create for others.
