Anthony Ribel Anthony Ribel 6'3" | SG Traverse City Central | 2024 State MI 6-3 2024 Traverse City Central (pictured) As stated in the intro. Might have been one of the better all around performers of the camp. Regardless of age group or region. Reflected by receiving a scholarship offer from the home school at the conclusion of Monday’s action. Got off to bit of a slow start. But the light really came on during the 3 on 2 continuous drill portion of the camp. If there was ever a drill made for his skill set it was this constant transition simulator. With advanced court vision and decision making he carved up defenses for a sold fifty minutes straight. Wasn’t all distribution though. Used a lethal stop and go dribble to get to the basket at will. Once there was able to finish with both hands. Is a true old school pass first point guard and this showed as the camp transitioned to 5-on-5 scrimmages. Uses size to see over defenses a find teammates. Size and mid range touch allowed him to score when needed.
Jaxon Childers Jaxon Childers 6'2" | SG Benzie Central | 2024 State MI 6-3 2024 Benzie Central Made for a potent duo with Ribel in the aforementioned 3 on 2 continuous drill. Filled lanes with speed and purpose as Ribel continued to set him up. This really allowed him to show his potential as a transition finisher. Might not have that opportunity as much during the regular season. Easily made plays above the rim and is hard to slow down with a head of steam. Has a unusual release from the perimeter. But it consistent and repeatable. When it is falling not much defenses can do. Older brother made a huge leap both physically and in skill level between his junior and senior season. If he can follow that path could be looking at big time prospect. There is quite a bit to work with already.
Trenton Taratuta Trenton Taratuta 6'3" | CG Hillman | 2024 State MI 6-3 2024 Hillman A little off the radar as he plays at a remote and very small school not far from the LSSU campus. But there is nothing remote or small about his perimeter game. Extremely fluid and smooth with the ball in his hands. Especially in the open court. Handled like a point guard and weaved through defenses effectively. Uses size to get to his spots easily and has quick elevation on his jump shot. Effortless release and he does not need much space to get it off. Competitive player who has been playing up an age group in grassroots competition this spring. Should continue to put up eye opening statistics in his last two seasons. Will be one of the better Division 4 players statewide by the time he is a senior. If he isn’t already.
Luke Hazelton Luke Hazelton 6'7" | PF Glen Lake | 2023 State MI 6-7 2023 Glen Lake We can’t let 6-3 2024 backcourt prospects have all the fun. Hazelton was one the bigger players in the camp. And he was not afraid to throw his frame around. The only thing really holding him back as a prospect is above the rim athleticism. Has a well rounded all around game. At the high school level is even a good enough ball handler to play the point. He might have to do it fit his squad in the coming year. Accordingly is a good passer who plays with his head up. Has a very soft touch around the basket. Offsets the lack of elevation with crafty looks that keeps defenders off balance. Also helps that he is left handed. Soft touch extends all the way out to the three point line.
Cade Trudeau 6-6 2023 Petoskey Hazelton’s front court partner on the Parallel 45 AAU squad. Trudeau is not as refined offensively but competes hard and has good size. Post moves are a little deliberate but still effective. Wasn’t afraid of contact. Moved well off the ball and was good at establishing deep post position. Not just limited to the low block. Showed a nice step back jumper in the mid rage as well. Was pulling a little double duty as Petoskey competed in the team camp over the weekend as well. Fellow Nothman Brady Ewing (Calvin) used a big spring/summer to catapult himself to a productive senior season. Trudeau might be on a similar trajectory.
