Jackson Cooper Jackson Cooper 6'5" | SF Cleveland | 2023 State OR , Team Fly (2023 Cleveland)
When it’s all said and done, Cooper may be the state’s best big man in the Class of 2023 – and that’s even considering the fact he’s potentially a swingman at the college level. At the Memorial Day Classic though he was running the floor, finishing at the rim, while also when given the chance in the halfcourt settings, displaying some tremendous footwork in the paint. Cooper rebounds, defends, and overall plays hard.
Kalim Brown Kalim Brown 6'0" | CG Tigard | 2023 State OR , Team Fly (2023 Tigard)
Brown can certainly score – he showed that as one of the top scorers in 6A this past seaosn – so it was no surprise seeing him getting buckets for Team Fly. But one thing the 6-foot rising senior also does is defend and that’s what really made a difference in the team’s blowout win. Brown was all over the place putting pressure on defenders and his quick hands came up with a number of steals that led to easy points.
Kayin Turner Kayin Turner 6'5" | SF Sunset | 2024 State OR , Progress Elite (2024 Sunset)
There may be no one in the Class of 2024 who’s made as many waves this spring so far than Turner. He has simply put up some monster efforts and while in the game we saw the numbers were a little more muted, he still wound up with 15+ points and nearly double digits in rebounds – and this playing for both the 2023 and 2024 squads for Progress Elite. Turner can get baskets around the hoop but has also shown off his ability to step outside and hit jumpers.
Jett Birdsall Jett Birdsall 5'9" | PG Sunset | 2024 State OR , Progress Elite (2024 Sunset)
One thing that has always impressed us with Birdsall is how he’s always looking to make the heady and right play. The point guard did that for Progress Elite in the game we watched, using his steady hand to protect the basketball and look for the open man with the pass. When he was given the open shot, he knocked it down and down the stretch, he made some big plays that helped Progress earn the victory. The backcourt at Sunset is opening up next year and don’t be surprised if Birdsall challenges for a starting spot.
Coven Rotter-Gale, The Pac 2024 (2024 Dallas)
Rotter-Gale was a fresh new face for us and he immediately caught our attention with his 6-foot-4 frame and ability to play on the perimeter. He hit open shots and created off the dribble yet also utilized his size on the boards. There’s no question that the rising junior will be a player we will be keeping an eye on going forward.
