The first game started at 8am, there were a total of 16 games on the schedule, we stayed for 10, so here’s a run down of some of the prospects we thought played well while we were in attendance.
Jamari Widemon Jamari Widemon 6'5" | PF Berkeley | 2024 State CA-N 6’5 2024 F of Berkeley HS
He’s made good improvements to his game in the post area. He’s a strong body prospect with long arms, and good strength to play in the post. He had a couple of nice moves to generate buckets in the paint. A two dribble drive, hard spin to finish with his left hand looked good, and a left handed jump hook he’s been working on. He’s an active rebounder, he usually defends the taller player in the post.
Samir O’Brien 6’3 2024 SG of Berkeley HS
He plays a good all-around game. He has good awareness on both sides of the ball. He has a good set of tools to use while looking to be an aggressive scorer on offense. He has good court vision for passing, and he has the ability to create his own shots. He defended with good intensity on the ball, and was often in good help position. He’s on the Wright’s Watch List.
Justin Hampton 6’1 2025 SG of California HS
A solid young prospect with good athleticism and movements on the court looking to be aggressive when he has the ball. He didn’t see much action on the varsity last season, he’s attempting to change that. He’s a good court runner who fills the lanes in transition trying to finish. He has the confidence to keep shooting his 3pt shot when open. He did start to hit some in the corners and in transition. His handles are okay and he did get into the paint using floaters, and paint jumpers.
Will Dorsey 6’5 2024 F/PF of Kennedy HS.
Dorsey has a solid body, he’s big and strong, and had impact on the game. He’s a decent scorer inside taking it up strong. He hit his jumper in the paint then showed he could step behind the 3-line at the top and drop a few. What caught our attention was his straight forward passing. He had strong passing on the out-let to start the break, his straight forward long passing up the court, and cross court.
Miles Dixonss Miles Dixonss 6'1" | SG Bishop O'Dowd | 2024 CA-N 6’2 2024 SG of Bishop O’Dowd HS.
Dixon had a good outing at this event. Standing around 6’2 he had good scoring inside off the pass, using balance and strength to finish his shot through contact. He turned the corner with his handles a couple of times on his way to the basket. His handles and passing were good in transition. We’ll see more of him.
Samuel Chavarin Samuel Chavarin 6'3" | SG Bishop O'Dowd | 2024 State CA-N 6’3 2024 W/F of Bishop O’Dowd HS.
He’s still developing a skill set on the offensive end, but he was a contributor in other areas. He had some effect playing without the ball. He was found on several occasions receiving passes cutting to the basket. He has good balance and played well off two feet, he’ll finish inside. He did well running the court getting transition baskets. He’s a good passer, he’ll defend and help with the rebounding. He’s an improving prospect.
