Demond Laongoen Demond Laongoen 5'10" | CG Madison East | 2024 State WI — Wisconsin Premier — 2024
Laongoen really made a strong impression early in this spring in Iowa. Playing for a solid Wisconsin Premier squad, the point guard is a tremendous slasher who knows how to fill up the stat sheet. Laongoen is a bit undersized, but he makes up for his lack of height with strength and speed. The PG does a great job of making physical drives to the basket and getting layups to fall. He is also a really good passer.
Jackson Niego — Chicago Lockdown — 2023
Playing with a loaded Chicago Lockdown squad, Niego serves as a really great distributor. He knows how to get teammates involved in the action on offense. The point guard is a solid ball-handler who doesn’t turn the ball over. He does have the ability to score, too. When left open, Niego is able to knockdown threes and finish layups.
JP Schilling — Quad City Shockers — 2023
Schilling is a flashy point guard who is really fun to watch. He is a terrific ball-handler who can easily put an opposing defender on skates. He is very shifty and fast in the open floor. The PG is just so skilled with the ball in his hands. He is a true three-level scoring threat, excellent passer, and competitive defender. If he continues to play at a high level, Schilling should find himself on a college roster.
Griffin Gerdes — Iowa Prep — 2024
Gerdes is a solid, consistent point guard who always seems to get the job done. Whenever his team needs a play, Gerdes steps up. The PG is a talented slasher who knows how to get downhill and score in the paint. He is a tad undersize for the position, but this doesn’t limit him at all. He is still able to make big-time plays in big-time games.
Tate Petersen Tate Petersen 6'1" | PG Monticello | 2023 State IA — Iowa Mavs — 2023
Petersen is such a good overall point guard, and it amazes me how top college programs haven’t already offered him. Whatever he needs to do to win, Petersen can do it with no problem. He scores, plays defense, passes well, and is a terrific teammate. He has had multiple high scoring games this AAU season. This summer, look for Petersen to continue his high-level play.
Colby Dolphin Colby Dolphin 5'10" | PG Kennedy | 2023 State IA — Iowa Prep — 2023
Dolphin is a really tough, gritty point guard who is not afraid to outwork his opponent. Dolphin is really strong and athletic. He uses these physical tools to find success on the court. Playing for Iowa Prep this past spring, the PG was outstanding. He made huge plays and always helped his team win games.
Drew Balentine Drew Balentine 6'1" | PG Maranatha Christian Academy | 2024 State MN — MN Chill — 2024
Balentine is a dynamic scorer who just has a knack for putting the ball through the net. He can get buckets from all three levels, which puts a lot of stress on opposing defenses. The point guard also proved to have the clutch gene, as in Indianapolis Balentine made a huge game winning shot. Look for Balentine to keep impressing.
