Isaac Asuma Isaac Asuma 6'3" | PG Cherry | 2024 State #102 Nation MN of D1 Minnesota 16s (2024 PG from Cherry. Fresh off his visits from Iowa and Iowa State (received offers from both), Isaac took to the court and guided his 16s squad to a win over a Wisconsin squad 76-60. Isaiah Schafer was scorching early, and Asuma made sure his teammate was taking comfortable shot attempts (Schafer made four threes in half one). Jordan Cain Jordan Cain 6'3" | SF Minnetonka | 2024 State MN was rim running and Asuma made sure that Jordan’s cuts were met perfectly in stride with the right feed. Isaac also showed his flare with some great passes to cutters, going behind the back clearing a player into a dunk, and all around just controlling pace. Had 17 points on 8 of 12 shooting with eight assists.
Marley Baah-Yeboah Marley Baah-Yeboah 6'3" | SF Lakeville South | 2024 State MN of D1 Minnesota 16s (2024 Wing from Lakeville South). Marley has a lot of the physical tools: He’s about 6’4, very quick up the floor, great bounce to the rim or to the contest, and laterally he has the physical ability to move very well. Prospect status is there, what was needed was an uptick in experience and consistency. I thought he looked very comfortable last night in terms of his positioning, his cuts, and all around movement. Rebounded strong and finished the attempts he got. Good sign as he enters his upperclassmen years.
Nathan Fenske Nathan Fenske 6'2" | SG Lakeview | 2023 State MN of Minnesota Comets (2024 shooting guard from Lakeview). How athletic is this 6’1 guard? On the game’s first play – and later in the game as well – the Comets ran a backside lob to Fenske for an impressive dunk. Nathan is not only strong, he’s the type athlete that schools are looking for. So quick off his feet, great lift, moves laterally well, and with the ball he’s a tough player to move with because of the strength and quick steps. Had 16 points in the opener making 6 of 8 attempts.
Tysen Gerards of Minnesota Comets 17s (2023 wing from Albany). If there were college coaches on the fence about Tysen and not quite sure, his performance against the Crossfire putting up 22 of his team’s 46 points in a slow zoned game may have done some convincing. The highlight play was the two hand, quick lifting jam over the retreating help defender, it was the type of play few will forget. More important though was the four threes from the lefty making the zone pay as it was forced to step to him with near impossible closeouts. At 6’3 with the lefty touch and scholarship agility, I’d say this is a legit scholarship prospect.
Eli Laposky Eli Laposky 6'1" | PG Pequot Lakes | 2023 State MN of Minnesota Comets 17s (2023 point guard from Eli Laposky Eli Laposky 6'1" | PG Pequot Lakes | 2023 State MN ). Was looking forward to seeing how Eli has progressed and I was surely happy to see him play. Loved the way he passed the ball, he’s the type of lead guard I think many would love to play with. Never forced his offense, never forced a play, just made sure that Nathan Fenske Nathan Fenske 6'2" | SG Lakeview | 2023 State MN and Adam Jenkins Adam Jenkins 6'9" | C Moorhead | 2023 State MN (among others) had the ball in the perfect spots to finish. I really like his feel at the position and certainly believe a ton of local schools would like to have him as their lead man.
Anthony Smith of D1 Minnesota 15s (2025 point guard from Hopkins). It was hard not to watch Anthony and think about Terrence Brown from Columbia Heights. Not just the hair but in terms of similar size at that age and surely a great comparison to how Anthony plays (in relation age wise of course). Smith has great control with the basketball calmly getting to his next move by the time the defender reacted to the previous move. Defenders had a terrible time contesting his shot and an even tougher team shifting weight and moving their feet to keep Smith from getting to the turn. Scored 16 points against a 16s team.
Micah Thompson Micah Thompson 6'6" | SF Perham | 2023 State MN of West Central United (2023 wing from Perham). I’m always impressed with Micah, he just does so much for his team all the time. He’s one of those guys that may not have a lot of baskets one day, but his defense and rebounding were huge to a win. Or another day he scores ten times with most of them being at the cup. Or another day he is the top passer, hit’s 3-4 threes, and grabs eight boards. Just an all around player that had a 13 point, 11 board double-double against the Comets plus had four assists. I think he might be one of the best kept secrets prospect wise.
