Noah Brumfield of West Central United (2024 guard Hillcrest Lutheran). Noah may have given D1 the most trouble because he was always on the moving finding gapping holes in the young team’s defense. He scored 24 points using his 6’4 frame to catch and complete, or attack and complete making 10 of 16 shots. Looks like a good shooter and a solid prospect, last night he put numbers up finding holes and he did it consistently.
Justin Courneya Justin Courneya 6'1" | PG Win-E-Mac | 2024 State MN of West Central United 16s (2024 guard from Win-E-Mac). I have heard about the legend that is Justin Courneya Justin Courneya 6'1" | PG Win-E-Mac | 2024 State MN but last night I got the chance to see it. He scored 29 points against D1 Minnesota on 11 of 17 shooting and it was led by his seven threes. Word is when he gets on the threes come in massive numbers and they can come from anywhere, and we saw that last night. Justin is also one of the craftiest touch finishers in a crowd that I can remember. This is the type of player that could top the small school scoring lists the next couple seasons.
Colton Hagen Colton Hagen 6'4" | PG Moorhead | 2023 MN of West Central United (2023 guard from Moorhead). The Spuds made a state run and I think they can make another after watching Hagen yesterday. We are all aware of Adam Jenkins Adam Jenkins 6'9" | C Moorhead | 2023 State MN and people should know about Dylan Zimmerman Dylan Zimmerman 6'5" | SF Moorhead | 2024 State MN who is a 2024 Spud with a bright future, but Hagen looks like another versatile guard piece that can bring it all together. WCU gave the top Comets squad some serious issues and early in the game they had a lot of trouble staying with Colton who put up 15 points.
Peyton Hunt Peyton Hunt 6'2" | SG Milaca | 2023 State MN of Minnesota Comets Gagner (2023 wing from Milaca). The Comets Gagner squad has been one of the better stories of the 17u season and Hunt has been one of their more consistent two way players. He’s 6’4 wing that has spent time in his life handling, finishing around the cup, and of course being the point producer that his high school team has needed. That versatility, and the willingness to be a consistent defender and whatever the offense needs, has made him very dependable for his team.
Jj Sullivan Jj Sullivan 6'2" | SG Eden Prairie | 2025 State MN of D1 Minnesota 15s (2025 shooting guard from Eden Prairie). JJ is the type of shooter that you just expect to make his threes if he catches in comfort, he is that good. Almost an automatic feel to watching him shoot a jumper. Even better, his reads of the floor are outstanding. The skip passes, the read of the defender and use of a dribble, the decisions on the break, all of it stayed with me. I think JJ has a special future because that shot and the feel for the game are at a level that few players reach. Had 22 against a 16s making four threes.
Chase Thompson of D1 Minnesota 15s (2025 wing from Alexandria). The brother of Treyton Thompson, Chase has some serious juice. When he takes a jumper from 23 feet he feels it is going in. He seeks out attempts, has no fear of who is in his face when he takes those attempts, and makes teams pay if they don’t mad contest his attempts. Knocked out five threes and grabbed nine boards – he is 6’6 I would guess – in the D1 game with West Central United. He’s got a beautiful stroke and the attitude of a confident shooter to go with it. I think he’s going to have a huge year as a sophomore.
