This weekend was the first live period of June which means college coaches from all levels are allowed to evaluate games in-person. Needless to say, there were many coaches in attendance. Here are a few standout guards I was able to watch play over the weekend.
2023 6’1 G Jadon Yeh Jadon Yeh 6'1" | PG White County | 2023 State GA – White County
Jadon Yeh Jadon Yeh 6'1" | PG White County | 2023 State GA can flat-out score the ball and did so in a variety of ways this weekend. He’s got a beautiful jumper that he can knock down from deep or off the dribble from mid-range. He uses his body extremely well when getting downhill in transition and displayed great body control finishing at the rim. Coming off of a 20 PPG year for White County last season, Yeh’s role should only grow this year and I expect him to gain a lot more attention this winter.
2025 5’7 G Yusef Bowyer – Maynard Jackson
Yusef Bowyer was a spark plug for Maynard Jackson this weekend and is definitely a player to keep an eye on in the 2025 class. Bowyer was automatic from 3 this weekend and he wasn’t afraid to pull it from deep. His release is quick and unpredictable making it difficult for defenders to contest. On the defensive end, Bowyer’s quickness and foot speed caused opposing guards problems and helped him to create many turnovers. Yusef Bowyer is certainly a player to track over the coming years.
2026 6’0 G Cortez Redding – Jonesboro
Redding is only an incoming freshman but doesn’t play like it one bit. Redding was fearless attacking the rim this weekend, using his quickness to get by defenders and his athleticism to finish over bigs at the rim. Defensively, Redding held his own and put pressure on opposing ball-handlers. Redding is in a great position to succeed at Jonesboro and should have his opportunities to shine this season.
2025 6’2 G Zach Bleshoy – Pope
Zach Bleshoy is a name that will become more and more popular in coming months. Despite being just a sophomore, Bleshoy looks to be the leader and point guard for this year’s Pope team. He’s a shifty ball-handler that’s able to get by defenders using a variety of dribble moves. Bleshoy sees the court extremely well and was able to setup good looks for his teammates. At 6’2, Bleshoy already has good size at the point guard position and could likely still be growing. Bleshoy is definitely a player to keep an eye on.
2023 6’0 G Zak Thomas Zak Thomas 6'0" | PG King's Ridge | 2023 State GA – King’s Ridge
Of all the guards I was able to watch this weekend, Zak Thomas Zak Thomas 6'0" | PG King's Ridge | 2023 State GA was the most prolific passer of them all. Thomas has elite court vision and was able to create wide open looks for his shooters all weekend. Thomas likes to push the ball and have numbers in transition, putting the defense in tough positions and threading the needle for easy buckets. Thomas also showed the ability to knock down the open 3 and finish around the rim. After receiving his first offer from Covenant last week, the list should grow for Zak Thomas Zak Thomas 6'0" | PG King's Ridge | 2023 State GA .
