This article will cover the top performers from Sunday’s games.
Chris Parra– 6’0 Point Guard “Atrisco Heritage” Class of 2023
Chris Parra started off strong out of the gates in the Atrisco Heritage victory vs Albuquerque High. Early in the first half, he made two consecutive pull up three-pointers to help Atrisco Heritage pull away from Albuquerque High. Chris had some nice strong finishes inside the paint and had one basket getting an “And One”.
Marquise Renfro– 6’1 Guard “Atrisco Heritage” Class of 2024
Marquise Renfro was dangerous in the open floor and continued his elite play from the last two days in this Duke City Shootout. After a rebound, Marquise pushed the tempo in the open floor and put his head down when driving to the basket. He showcased extra effort on the offensive glass and many second chance points.
Isaiah Maldonado– 5’7 Point Guard “Albuquerque” Class of 2024
Despite the loss to Atrisco Heritage, Isaiah Maldonado led Albuquerque in scoring and made five three-pointers in the game. Each of his three-pointers were from catch and shoot opportunities. Isaiah constantly was looking for the ball and was aggressive looking for his shot.
Antonio Ortiz– 6’4 Center “Atrisco Heritage” Class of 2023
Antonio Ortiz was the best player during the game for Atrisco Heritage in their win vs Albuquerque High School. He played an old school game with his back to the basket. scored all of his points in the paint and had some nice footwork finishing his layups around the basket. Antonio received many offensive rebounds and converted those second opportunities as second chance points. He was the team’s leading scorer and rebounder in the game.
Elijah Foster Elijah Foster 6'4" | CG Cibola | 2024 State NM – 6’2 Small Forward “Cibola” Class of 2024
Elijah Foster Elijah Foster 6'4" | CG Cibola | 2024 State NM had one of the best offensive performances from any player in the Duke City Shootout. He set the tone from the start of the game and scored 19 points in the first half vs Capital High School. In the first half he made five three-pointers and was aggressive looking for his shot. Elijah was the teams X-Factor and difference maker in the game. He had the total offensive package in this game and scored in every way you could imagine. Elijah finished the game with 29 points despite the loss to Capital.
Shane Douma-Sanchez Shane Douma-Sanchez 6'0" | PG Del Norte | 2023 State NM – 6’1 Guard “Del Norte” Class of 2023
Shane Douma-Sanchez Shane Douma-Sanchez 6'0" | PG Del Norte | 2023 State NM was brilliant in his game vs Belen early Sunday afternoon. Despite the loss to Belen, Shane showcased an all-around game from start to finish. He hit some tough shots throughout the game and made some clutch baskets toward the end of the game. He distributed the ball well for his team and knew when to be aggressive when looking for his own shot. Shane also showed great leadership during the game.
Jordi Rojo– 5’8 Point Guard “Belen” Class of 2024
Belen’s captain Jordi Rojo led the charge against Del Norte High School. He started the game aggressive and gave his team energy with his hustle on both ends of the floor. Jordi finished around the rim easily and knocked down some outside shots with efficiency. He was clutch down the stretch and helped lead Belen to a victory vs Del Norte High School.
