The event featured some of the top private schools from Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina, and had hundreds of college coaches in attendance. We’ll have tons of content from the weekend, continuing with part two of the 2023 standouts from VA.
Carter Lang Carter Lang 6'9" | C St. Anne's Belfield | 2023 State #199 Nation VA | 6’9” C | STAB
Lang was his usual productive self, getting the job done against some very good teams with very good bigs including going for 24 points and 7 rebounds on 10-for-14 shooting from the field. He used his big body to seal and finish over the shoulder in the paint, he showed his ability to step out on the perimeter and make passes and make shots from deep and he hit the offensive glass relentlessly throughout the weekend. He’s one of the more efficient big men you’ll find in the 2023 class and he continues to show it against high level competition.
Desmond Roberts Desmond Roberts 6'5" | SF St Anne’s Belfield | 2023 State VA | 6’5” WF | STAB
Roberts is a new addition to this STAB group and brings much needed athleticism and size on the perimeter as a two way impact player. He’s a big time athlete with a great frame and he can explode and play above the rim when he gets downhill, he’s a good rebounder and a versatile defender who can guard multiple positions and he showed he can make shots when he’s left open from deep. He produced well for this group and is a very underrated prospect more coaches should get on with his long term potential.
John St. Germain John St. Germain 6'2" | PG St. Anne's Belfield | 2023 State VA | 6’0” PG | STAB
St. Germain had a terrific showing this weekend leading his team to a 4-0 record and showing yet again he’s one of the best floor generals you will come across. He commands the game well as he doesn’t turn the ball over and puts his teammates in positions to succeed consistently, he can run the ball screen as well as anyone and can make every pass out of it with either hand and when he gets downhill and in the midrange he knows how to change speeds and use his body to create space and finish. He was efficient as a scorer, made plays for others and set the tone on both ends of the floor throughout the event.
Gibraltar Coleman Gibraltar Coleman 6'6" | PF Flint Hill | 2023 State VA | 6’7” PF | Flint Hill
Coleman continues to impress with his ability to score the ball in a number of different ways at his size, and coaches are starting to take notice as he’s picked up a handful of offers over the past few weekends. At 6’7” Coleman is a big body who can step out and knock down shots consistently from deep, he can attack the offensive glass and score it in the paint and he can put it on the deck and create space to score it in the midrange too. He’s improved a lot over the past few years and is starting to get the recognition he deserves after putting it all together.
Khalil Williams Khalil Williams 6'5" | SG Potomac (McLean, VA) | 2023 State VA | 6’5” WF | Potomac School
When it comes to wings with natural ability, Williams is one of those guys that stands out as he has good size, athleticism and a natural ability to score the ball off the bounce. He gets downhill and is an excellent finisher who can play above the rim and finish with either hand through traffic, he’s shifty off the bounce and gets to spots to score it and he can make shots from deep when he’s left open. He can fill it up in bunches and is a good rebounder for his position as well.
