The event featured some of the top private schools from Maryland and Virginia, and had hundreds of college coaches in attendance. We’ll have tons of content from the weekend, continuing with part two of the 2023 standouts from the MD schools.
Tyler Perkins Tyler Perkins 6'4" | SG Landon | 2023 State #268 Nation MD | 6’4” WG | Landon
Perkins was one of the biggest stock risers of session 1, landing multiple division one offers and showing a lot of improvement from last year where he put himself on the map. He’s grown and filled out and has a great frame with good strength and long arms, he’s a good athlete who plays with a good motor on both ends of the floor and he’s a talented scorer who can fill it up in multiple different ways. He was one of the events top scorers as he knocked down shots from deep consistently, got in the lane and finished through contact and got the line often.
Jahnathan Lamothe Jahnathan Lamothe 6'3" | CG St. Frances | 2023 State #204 Nation MD | 6’4” CG | St. Frances
Lamothe recently committed to Maryland and it’s his first event since, and it was one of the better showings I’ve seen him have in the past year or so as he looks to have improved in a lot of the areas he needed to. The 6’4” combo is unique in the way he plays as he isn’t the quickest but he uses his size and handle to get to spots and see over players to deliver passes, he has good instincts on both ends of the floor and he has a knack for being around the ball and making plays. He showed improved consistency in his ability to make shots from deep and finish around the rim, and he was very consistent throughout the weekend.
Carlton Carrington Carlton Carrington 6'4" | CG St. Frances | 2023 State #84 Nation MD | 6’4” WG | St. Frances
Carrington is a player a lot of coaches showed up to watch as he’s been picking up a lot of offers this spring, and he showed that he can do a little more than he’s known for. He’s regularly known for his shooting and scoring ability, but he also showed that he can handle the rock and get his team into sets and get in the lane to make plays for himself and others. He is a smart player who knows how to create space and get open to make shots, he has deep range and can score from multiple levels and he’s a good rebounder for his position too.
Jayden Ross Jayden Ross 6'7" | SF Long Island Lutheran | 2023 #144 Nation MD | 6’7” WF | St. James
Ross is one of the top wings in the Maryland area as he has a lot of tools that translate to the next level and he showed that this weekend with a number of impressive showings in front of a bevy of college coaches. He has great size on the wing with good length and athleticism, he has good ball skills on the perimeter as he can put it on the deck and get to spots to make shot and he can knock down shots from deep off the catch. He has huge upside defensively and plays with a good motor, and he still has a lot of room to improve moving forward.
Cam Cole | 6’3” PG | St. James
We’ve said for a while that Cole is one of the more underrated guards in the DMV area, and he had a good season at Highland School last year before heading to St. James this year. He’s the type of lead guard who can do a little bit of everything for his team as he stuffs the stat sheet and makes his team better with his playmaking and ability to run the show. He’s skilled and crafty with the ball in his hands and can get in the lane to make plays, he can score it efficiently from multiple levels and he’s a good rebounder for his size and position as well.
Aidan Harris Aidan Harris 6'6" | SF St. Marys | 2023 State #293 Nation MD | 6’7” F | St. Mary’s – Annapolis
Harris is a throwback style of player who is very productive and does so with an array of shots from different levels and great fundamentals. He’s excellent in the midrange where he can use his size to get his shot off, he has good footwork to get into his shots and he understands angles and can score it off the glass and around the rim while also being able to step outside and make shots. He showed an improved motor and body, and rebounded well, and turned in one of the top performances of the event going for 24 points and 20 rebounds in the final game of the session.
