This group of players is littered with talented guards, forwards, and bigs who can all make an impact at the next level. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be taking a look at some of the best juniors the state of Utah has to offer on the hardwood. Do not fret if you don’t see a name on here that you feel should be included, as this is only part one of a five-part series.
KJ Miller KJ Miller 6'3" | CG Layton | 2024 State UT – 6’3/CG– Layton High School
Miller’s play had caught the eyes of local coaches ever since he was coming up, and the rest of the Utah community is starting to take notice. The 6’3 combo guard has a nice stroke and is good off the dribble. Miller can slice through the lane and hit from deep when needed. He’s going to be a big part of what Layton does in the winter and has all the potential to grow into a great player.
David Katoa David Katoa 6'4" | CG Layton | 2024 State #255 Nation UT – 6’4/CG- RSL Academy
Katoa grew up playing against the best in the state and now is among them in 2022. A versatile wing with division one athleticism, Katoa is a nightmare for offenses. He often draws the other team’s best scorer applying his patented clamp for all 90 feet. On offense, the 6’4 junior employs a knockdown pull up jumper and can hit shots from long range. Katoa is one of the state’s most versatile and creative players.
Brody Kozlowski Brody Kozlowski 6'8" | SF Corner Canyon | 2024 State #103 Nation UT – 6’7/SG- Corner Canyon High School
Kozlowski is one of the best shooters in the state that can also defend at an elite level. A true double-double threat every time he touches the floor, Kozlowski is always active on the glass. His game has already garnered a lot of attention from scouts and local coaches alike. This stretch four can do it all at a high level, and he looks to build off a strong spring with the Utah Prospects this summer.
Cooper Lewis Cooper Lewis 6'1" | PG Lehi | 2024 State UT – 5’9/PG- Lehi
Lewis is one of the best shot makers in Utah. A true scoring guard who also excels at making plays for others. He knows how to score in every which way and can fill it up in both the points and assist column of the stat sheet. Lewis is a tremendous shooter who can easily drill treys off the dribble. He rarely turns the ball over and has an excellent knowledge of the game.
