Continue ReadingNebraska high school basketball keeps getting better, better, and better. The 2022-23 off-season has already been full of excitement, which has led up to some key players ending up in a new uniform. Below I’ve listed the student-athletes that have decided to put themselves in a brighter situation to prepare for the next level.
Jacob Martin Jacob Martin 6'0" | PG Millard North | 2023 State NE Senior | Combo Guard | 6’3″ | AAU – Powerhouse Hoops Nebraska
Jacob is a crowd favorite and plays with high energy on both ends of the floor. Martin excels at breaking down a defender and finding a wide-open teammate. Solid shooter from long or mid-range and able to get to the basket for easy lay-ups. He averaged 11 points, 2 assists, 2 rebounds, and 2 steals per game for the South High Packers. Martin has recently transferred to Millard North High School to help the Mustangs battle for their 3rd straight state title. He’ll be joining Neal Mosser Neal Mosser 6'2" | SG Millard North | 2024 State NE and Elijah Gaeth Elijah Gaeth 6'1" | SG Millard North | 2024 State NE which will make it strenuous for opposing teams to slow the Mustangs down.
Isaiah McMorris Isaiah McMorris 6'0" | CG Bellevue West | 2024 NE Junior | Point Guard | 6’1″ | AAU – ETG Midwest Nebraska
McMorris has won back-to-back titles the previous two seasons as a freshman and sophomore with the Millard North Mustangs. He has chosen to team up with first-team super-state selection Josiah Dotzler Josiah Dotzler 6'3" | CG Bellevue West | 2023 State #225 Nation NE , Jaden Jackson Jaden Jackson 6'1" | SG Bellevue West | 2024 State #312 Nation NE , and the Bellevue West Thunderbirds. This transfer will ensure that the ThunderBirds will have one of the most vicious backcourts in the state as they prepare to reach the state finals for the fourth year in a row. Isaiah also plays football. He is very tough in all aspects of the game and is an all-around athlete equipped with speed, agility, and supreme toughness.
T’andre Perkins T’andre Perkins 6'5" | SF Omaha North | 2023 State NE Senior | Small Forward | 6’5″ | AAU – Powerhouse Hoops Nebraska
Perkins continues to improve his skill set and increase his stock. True small forward that can push the ball up the floor and finish in heavy traffic above the rim. T’Andre can shoot fairly well from behind the arc and constantly improving his midrange game. He can guard guards or bigs. He previously played for the Omaha South Packers. Omaha South’s Head Coach Bruce Chubick accepted a job at Omaha Central this off-season so Perkins decided to accept a small forward position with the Omaha North Vikings. He will team up with Omaha North standouts Mynor Strong Mynor Strong 6'1" | CG Omaha North | 2024 State NE and Daleron Thomas Daleron Thomas 6'0" | CG Omaha Central | 2024 State NE in an attempt to re-establish the Vikings as a top contender in the metro conference.
Isaiah Jackson Isaiah Jackson 6'1" | SG Omaha Bryan | 2023 State NE Senior | Guard / Small Forward | AAU – Powerhouse Hoops Nebraska
Isaiah will be transferring from Omaha South to play for Omaha Bryan. He made big improvements this summer playing with Powerhouse Hoops Nebraska. Jackson averaged 12 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 steals per game. It’s safe to say he is the “MIP,” most improved player. Look for Isaiah to have a stellar year with the Bryan Bears.
Rickey Loftin Rickey Loftin 6'0" | SG Westside | 2024 State NE Junior | Point Guard | 6’1″ | AAU – N/A
Rickey has a solid offensive skill set and plays fearlessly. Two words come to mind when thinking about how to describe him, “Silent Assasin.” He has a great mid-range game, crafty ball-handling skills, and he’s able to score in bunches. Loftin started varsity for the Omaha South Packers as a sophomore, so he is ahead of most his age. Now Rickey will take his talents to West Omaha to play for the Westside Warriors. A great choice for Rickey because he would fit right in with their style of play. Westside won the Holiday Metro Tournament last year and lost a nail-biter to Omaha Creighton Prep in the state finals so adding Loftin will only add more firepower to an already powerhouse team.
