Noah Smith Noah Smith 6'4" | SF Reynoldsburg | 2024 State OH (2024) Reynoldsburg
Smith was an unknown to me coming into Capital, but the junior is similar to his teammates at Reynoldsburg…athletic. Smith made some winning plays on the offensive end using his dribble to create separation and making shots in the midrange. Standing 6-foot-4, Smith was completed several shots over defenders. Gritty defender and got a hand in passing lanes which led to a few deflections and interceptions. Reynoldsburg has a lot of high level talent on their roster, but Smith brings intensity and upperclassmen experience to the table.
Jorden Bowens (2026) Reynoldsburg
Capital was my first look ever at Bowens as the incoming freshman is considered one of the top prospects in the 2026 class in Ohio. Bowens impressed me right away with the motor he plays with. Doesn’t appear to take plays off and hustles on every play he can. Particularly was impressive on the glass as he utilized his longer arms and vertical leaping to attack the boards over a smaller Lebanon group. Bowens was starting for the Raiders in this matchup, but I will be curious how his role will look come Winter. He clearly has maturity to his game early on and could fit in with the teammates he will have.
Aj Taylor Aj Taylor 6'6" | PF Columbus Wellington | 2023 State OH (2023) Wellington School
Taylor had a rough game as his Wellington team could not buy a bucket against Columbus Academy. He caught my eye from the tip as he was the biggest player on the floor for the Jaguars. Has impressive size on the wing at 6-foot-6 and likely is a borderline big man. However, Taylor falls into a wing with his handle for a guy his size. Confident with the ball in his hands and not afraid to put his head down and attack the rim. With Wellington struggling all over the floor, I felt Taylor forced some shots that weren’t the best looks. In addition, he struggled defensively as he picked up several fouls in the first half not going straight up to defend the rim. He will need to clean this up as Taylor likely will be the guy Wellington leans on this season.
Logan Toler (2023) Chippewa
Toler admittingly was seen in the OT session of the team camp which means I didn’t see much on him throughout the day. One thing for sure on Toler though is his arsenal on the offensive end. Led his team with midrange shooting, getting good looks off the dribble and showing explosiveness above the rim. I will need to see more live action, regulation style basketball to fully understand where Toler is currently. But nonetheless, he’s got some skill Chippewa is happy to utilize.
