It’s also the start of several players going from unknown to being put squarely on the radar, and becoming a potential prospect. A big month of June can also signify the start of a big season. In this article, we take a look at some players poised for a breakout month of June.
Jalen Dickel Jalen Dickel 6'3" | CG Arbor View | 2024 State NV 6’3 CG Arbor View 2024 (#24PHN 2024) – I’ve always liked Dickel’s game and skill set. He was productive in his first Varsity season and looks to only be getting better. He’ll have a good platform to show off his playmaking with Arbor View participating in Section 7.
Jaden Riley Jaden Riley 6'1" | PG Liberty | 2025 State NV 6’1 PG Bonanza 2025 (#18PHN 2025) – Riley is coming off a year where he saw valuable minutes for a Bonanza team that won a lot of games. Riley is a high-IQ guy with the ability to create for his teammates. He’ll have opportunities to impress, participating in section 7 and the Grizzlies Summer Tournament.
Andre Porter Andre Porter 6'0" | SF Liberty | 2024 State NV 6’0 SG Liberty 2024 (#45PHN 2024) – So far Andre Porter Andre Porter 6'0" | SF Liberty | 2024 State NV is my early season favorite for most improved player. He was impressive when I saw him at Braggin Rights, and now I’m looking to see what kind of performance, he puts on at section 7. Defending 5A Champion Liberty will be in a challenging bracket, Porter’s ability to produce against strong competition like this will go a long way to raising his stock.
CJ Shaw CJ Shaw 6'3" | SG Mojave | 2025 State #212 Nation NV 6’3 SG Mojave 2025 (#5PHN 2025) (featured image) – You can argue that Shaw already had his breakout season, being named 4A State Finals MVP, en route to leading Mojave to the state crown. However, he has a chance to put himself on the regional map over the next few weeks. He has already had some strong showings playing for Vegas Elite and the slashing wing has a chance to really open some eyes with a strong performance at Section 7
Khamari Taylor Khamari Taylor 5'11" | CG Desert Oasis | 2024 State NV 5’11 PG Sierra Vista 2024 (#21PHN 2024) Taylor is a scrappy player with skills. He’s an underrated player who is one of the better defenders in the state. He plays hard and has the ability to defend both backcourt spots effectively. Interested to see what he’s added to his offensive game. Taylor is a good slasher and could impress as a surprising two-way player.
Jamarion Smith Jamarion Smith 6'2" | SF Mojave | 2024 State NV 6’2 SF Mojave 2024 – Smith is an intriguing prospect. who plays for the Adidas-sponsored Las Vegas Knicks. Smith “looks the part” as they say. Although only 6’2 he has long arms and is a decent athlete. He’s coming off a year where Mojave took home the crown, so his championship experience could prove to be valuable.
Alijah Adem Alijah Adem 6'2" | PG Spring Valley | 2024 State #174 Nation NV 6’1 PG Spring Valley 2024 (#7PHN 2024) – The reigning 4A player of the year is ready to take on all comers. Adem has the wiggle and offensive skill to catch the eye of scouts and coaches. One of the best 1 v 1 players in the state, Adem will have an opportunity to impress this month. In addition to going to Phoenix for the Section 7 Team camp, Spring Valley is hosting the Grizzlies Summer Tournament, giving Adem the opportunity to shine in his home gym.
