In this article we look at the 5th team All-Invitational from the weekend.
Demarion Anderson Demarion Anderson 5'9" | PG Agua Fria | 2023 State AZ Phhoenix Prep
A scoring lead guard with a flashy handle and speed. He can hit the catch and shoot three with deeper range then last year. He made multiple difficult shots for and-1’s including a 4-point play over the three days. He sees plays developing quickly and can throw the pass. He transferred over from Agua Fria and should have a big year.
Zane Gaul Zane Gaul 6'10" | C Prescott | 2025 State AZ Prescott
The big man from up North is a load inside to deal with. He rebounds and blocks shots in the paint. He can score it around the hoop but is slowly started to face-up to the three point line and expanding his game. He keeps the ball high and can find an open teammate after the double. He runs the court well and defends best closest to the basket.
Tayt Lucas Tayt Lucas 6'3" | CG Butler | 2025 PA Mesquite (Pictured)
The rising sophomore will be the sharp shooter of the team. Without Lamar commit Calmese others will have to pick up the slack, and it looks like Tayt will be one of the big contributors. He smartly plays off of Gonzales and Wollangk and is ready to fire away. He catches and shoots it consistently from mid to the three point line and can get to the basket as well.
Shakur Davis Shakur Davis 6'1" | SG Inspire Prep National | 2024 State AZ McClintock
With all the athletes the Chargers have, someone needs to open it up. Shakur is a consistent catch and shoot three point shooter. He will defend on the ball and he is a sneaky good passer. He calmly knocked down a clutch free throw in one of their wins in a very tight game,
Triston Walters Triston Walters 5'11" | CG Maricopa | 2023 State AZ Higley
A strong scoring combo guard will be asked to step up his game this year. He took a back seat to some older guards last year and it is his turn this year. He has a nice pull-up off the dribble from mid-range and uses his thicker frame to get downhill to score through contact. He is a physical defender and a better passer then he gets credited for.
Clayton Werner Clayton Werner 6'0" | CG Valley Vista | 2023 State AZ Valley Vista
A cerebral combo guard is a good passer and will score the ball. He can change speeds or hesitate and get to the rim. He made a few tough shots in traffic and one nifty reverse layup. He hits the three and can fall-away from his defender. He plays from the neck up and is a nice compliment to their leader Isai.
Tony Willis Tony Willis 5'11" | PG ALA-Ironwood | 2023 State AZ ALA-Ironwood
A high IQ guard does many things well. He plays within himself and you rarely see him make a bad decision. He can drive and kick to a shooter and he always seems to be in the right place on defense with high awareness. He can get into the lane and hit the catch three.
Alex Wells Alex Wells 6'3" | SG Phhoenix Prep | 2024 State AZ Phhoenix Prep
An athletic guard can get to the rim and flush it down. He has a quick first step and will get to the basket with his burst and uses his bounce to score it in traffic. He has good length to play the passing lanes and can heat up from beyond the three point line. The former Eastmark standout is trending up.
(I will talk about the Newcomers in the next article.)
