2023 6-3 G Bralyn Mayfield – WBBP Rush
A powerful guard that overwhelmed opponents downhill, Bralyn Mayfield was a rock of consistency throughout the weekend for WBBP Rush. He started the tournament off with 25 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 1 block, scoring on all three levels, getting what he wanted on offense. He followed up with 12 points and 5 rebounds against NEB. Whenever WBBP Rush needed a hoop, the ball was in Mayfield’s hands.
2023 6-3 W Andre Akbar – NEB Elite
Mr. 3&D made opponents pay whenever he was left open in the corners. The three-point specialist has a quick release and knack for hitting big shots in the second half. Teams couldn’t help off him on ball-side drives or he would torch them on drive-and-kick threes. Akbar nailed six threes against WBBP en route to 22 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 steals. Aside from his offense, Akbar’s length defensively gives him great value. He may need to add some muscle in college, but his wiry frame and outside shot are covetable.
2022 6-5 W Trey Hood – Charlotte Dragons
Hood immediately made his presence felt in the first game of the tournament, pouring in 32 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. Trey put up points from all over. He has a mature game and a college-made body. He used his strength on drives to the basket and a powerful explosion to finish above the rim. Hood absorbed contact and converted multiple And-1s throughout the weekend. Trey’s got a dangerous three-point shot which rounds out his arsenal. On defense he can defend 3-5 and is a sturdy rebounder in traffic.
2023 6-4 F Jimar Franklin – NEB Elite
Pencil in Jimar Franklin for a double-double every time he steps on the floor. He’s a highly active forward with a terrific motor. Franklin is quick to rebounds and has a nose for the ball and a knowledge of where to position himself when shots go up. Jimar’s quickness causes problems for opposing big men. He’s a deft slasher that attacks off the dribble. Franklin collected 27 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 3 blocks in a win over WBBP. His consistency cannot go unnoticed.
2023 6-5 PF Darius Reynolds – Georgia Fire Premier
The man-child turned heads with his physique and dominant play inside. Reynolds is built like a college senior. The chiseled post presence bullied opponents in the paint, collecting rebounds and scoring with his back to the basket. He high-pointed caroms and finished through contact. His dropsteps buried opponents as he spun with his elbows flared out. Reynolds showed the ability to score with both hands inside and more impressively, he was a competent rim protector that swatted away shots. He had a 28-point outing on Sunday and posted 15 points, 9 rebounds and 1 block in the first game of the day on Saturday.
