Some may not have stood out as much as others at an event like Section 7. Nonetheless Prep Hoops NorCal’s focus was on prospects from the NorCal area, we thought they played well, and there were college coaches from all divisions watching this group.
Eric Brown Eric Brown 6'7" | SF Archbishop Mitty | 2023 State CA-N 6’7 2023 Wing/Forward of Archbishop Mitty HS.
Brown has emerged as one of the rising prospects from Spring ball in NorCal. He brings good size and length to the court. He plays with a good level of confidence in his game. He has a good mid-range jumper, he can hit 3’s in transition, and spotting up. He knows how to use his length to get a bucket inside.
George Gale George Gale 6'4" | SF Branson | 2023 State CA-N 6’6 2023 Forward of The Branson HS.
Gale was a key player in helping The Branson win the title at Section 7. As the main man in the paint for The Branson, Gale presents match-up problems at times. He doesn’t just post up. He has good movements along the baseline and working inside/out effectively. He works well from the corner and along the baseline. He can hit the corner 3, use his dribble along the baseline for dunks and finishes at the rim. He’s an improving rebounder.
Logan Robeson Logan Robeson 6'1" | SG Campolindo | 2023 State CA-N 6’3 2023 SG of Campolindo HS.
He’s had his ups and downs, but he’s a solid body prospect who has a decent set of skills for a guard. He most known for being able to knock down the 3ptr. He’s a bit streaky but when he gets his confidence going, he can knock down 2 or 3 in a row. He can put it on the floor for drives into the paint for jumpers. He has a solid body and can handle contact.
Jermaine Haliburton Jermaine Haliburton 6'2" | PG Inderkum | 2023 State CA-N 6’2 2023 PG of Inderkum HS.
He’s a quality player at the point guard position. He possess the skills needed for him to properly run the offense. He’s a willing passer with vision, patience, and solid handles. He can hit the mid-range jumper, he has the ability using his speed, and quickness to go by defenders, in transition, and in half-court. He can get into the paint off the dribble. He has good lateral movement to guard on ball.
Reid Jones Reid Jones 6'3" | CG Jesuit | 2023 State CA-N 6’3 2023 Guard Jesuit HS.
He plays a good all around game on the court. He’s capable of running the offense when called upon. He’s a good off the ball guard, that makes the extra pass. He’s a good shooter from mid-range out past the 3pt line. He’s good in transition attacking for finishes, or pulling up for jumpers short and long. He uses pump fakes, ball fakes and jab steps to get defenders off balance.
Emerson Jones Emerson Jones 6'5" | SF Salesian College Prep | 2023 State CA-N 6’6 2023 W/F of Salesian College Prep.
He’s long, active, and plays hard on both ends. He has good footspeed to play up top trapping, and guarding out on the perimeter. He’s long and tough enough to defend in the paint. He won’t score a lot but has improved in that area. He battles for rebounds with a good second effort, he’ll distract shooters in the paint. He’s a good court runner. A good defender from NorCal
John Squire John Squire 6'7" | C St. Ignatius | 2023 State CA-N 6’7 2023 Forward of ST. Ignatius HS
Squire attracts a lot of attention because of his strength and size in the paint, he still manages to be one of the top rebounding forwards in NorCal. He’s a double double guy at this level. In the off season, he told PH he’s been working on his body, footspeed, ball handling, and perimeter shooting, mainly from behind the 3pt line. He can score inside, and hit the short jumper.
Joey Kennedy Joey Kennedy 6'6" | PF University | 2023 State CA-N 6’6 2023 Forward of University HS.
He had to battle through adversity at this event, but still showed himself to be a player that can play this game at the next level. He has a solid body with a good set of skills. He makes good decisions with ball. He passes well out of the double, he sees the court well to find cutters, and shooters from his post position where he’s a triple threat to pass, shoot or dribble. He can step behind the line and hit 3’s. He’ has good footwork and patience in the paint. He’ll rebound.
