Here are 4 takeaways.
Two newcomers inside the top 10
Jordan Frison Jordan Frison 6'0" | PG Overton | 2023 State TN and L.J. Hickman L.J. Hickman 6'2" | CG Memphis East | 2023 State TN both entered the top 10 at No. 7 and No. 10, respectively. Frison, a 5-foot-10 point guard, has been improving as a floor general. The notion that he’s just a scorer can no longer be used. Frison brings balance now. He can affect the game with his passing and scoring ability. Frison deserves to be in the top 10.
Hickman is a newcomer to the state, and he quickly made an impact at the BCAT Team Camp. As a 6-2 combo guard, Hickman can make shots from the perimeter and take his defender off the dribble. He’s disruptive on the defensive end, very fierce to be honest. Hickman has sticky fingers, so if you’re not a sharp ball handler, you may not want to dribble around this kid.
Jones back inside the top 3
It’s been a minute since Jaylen Jones Jaylen Jones 6'0" | PG East Nashville | 2023 State #178 Nation TN has been inside the top three. Well, he’s back. The Tennessee State commit is one of the craftiest ball handlers in the state. Jones loves to sit down on defense. He’s a playmaker. Jones can make the right read and make a timely shot. The rising senior point guard has been productive for WACG this summer.
E.J. Smith E.J. Smith 6'3" | PG Memphis East | 2024 TN and Jarred Hall Jarred Hall 6'8" | SF Lebanon | 2023 State #65 Nation TN are the two best players in the state
Hey, you can make an argument for either prospect to be No. 1 in the state. Smith checks all of the boxes as a point guard. He just needs to shoot the ball better consistently. Smith has done it in spurts, so he’s very capable of shooting the basketball at a high clip on a daily basis.
Hall is a forward that creates spacing. He’s better fit at the power forward position. When he plays with his back to the basket, Hall is dominant. He can knock down shots from 15-feet out.
Lukas Walls Lukas Walls 6'4" | SG Knoxville Webb | 2023 State TN moves inside the top 5
The 6-3 combo guard moved up one spot to No. 5. The Samford commit is one of the best offensive players in the class. As the floor general, Walls can initiate the offense, and when he’s playing off the ball, Walls create his own shot.
