I caught up with head coach Jeremy Crutcher and his focus going into the month of June is really simple, and that is for his team to gain experience. He has a very inexperienced team that will have to grow up fast over the next few months to compete at the level for which Hazel Green is known in the state.
Let’s look at some of the new faces that will be looked upon to lead the Trojans…
Key Returning Players:
Carter Wray (6’2/SG/2023)

Hazel Green may lack experience, but they will be able to find a little experience with Carter as he will be entering his senior season next fall. He brings a high IQ to the court and will be looked upon to lead the young Trojans squad. He shoots the ball well from the perimeter and will need to be able to produce points from the off-guard spot. His coach hopes that his energy on both ends of the court will be contagious throughout the team.
Jalen Bright (6’2/SG/2024)

Jalen just might emerge as the first or second option for the Trojans when it comes to scoring. He is a two-way athletic guard that can score the rock in a variety of ways. He is a high-level player that can impact the game on both ends and without necessarily having the ball in his hands all the time. Jalen could use June as an indicator of how much scoring he will need to bring next season.
Jacob Thomas (5’10/PG/2024)

With an inexperienced squad, Jacob will be called upon to facilitate the show and be the coach on the floor. He is a PG with high-level handles, athleticism, and a high IQ. When a coach speaks of a PG that will need to bring a high level of leadership to a team, I often encourage the player to begin to read as much as he can on leadership. I encourage Jacob to grab a copy of John Maxwell’s book, ’Developing The Leader Within You 2.0.’ (https://store.maxwellleadership.com/Developing-the-Leader-Within-You-20–All-New-for-Todays-Generation-of-Leaders-Paperback_p_2820.html)
Players Ready To Make A Difference:
Sayiid Allen (6’6/SF/2024)
Instagram: N/A
Twitter: N/A
Sayiid has the opportunity to be a difference-maker due to his size and length. He has the potential to be a match-up problem and could use his versatility to impact the game. He is an athletic forward with a good understanding and feel for the game, so all signs point to Sayiid being a difference-maker for the Trojans. We could get a glimpse of that potential in June.
Terrence Pruitt Jr. (6’4/PF)
Instagram: N/A
Twitter: N/A
Often, with an inexperienced team, the only consistent thing you get is inconsistency. Hazel Green’s coaching staff is hoping that Terrence can step up and provide a scoring boost for the squad when the inexperienced moments come on the offensive end. Terrence brings to the floor a nice skill-set and an ability to score and could some nights provide double-digit points for the Trojans.
