Alantheon Winn 2024 6’5 Little Cypress Mauriceville High School, TX (TJ Ford Basketball 2023)
Alantheon was a man amongst boys during his time on the court at the Space City Collision, using his length and athleticism to wreak havoc on both ends of the court. He is an incredibly strong finisher in the paint, and has all of the athleticism to get him into the teeth of the defense every time down the court. The consistency that he showed in the paint was elite, as he displayed impressive layups with either hand and contorted his body in the air to avoid contact. He is not just a slasher, he showed an ability to knock down shots off the catch from the wings and corners. The attention that he draws allows him to be a smart playmaker, and make all of the right reads. I was most impressed by his overall on court intelligence he displayed on both ends of the floor. You can tell he is really thinking the game at a very high level, and mistakes he makes once normally do not happen again. He has a very impressive leaping ability that allows him to play down low whenever is necessary on the defensive end, and is a good help side defender. He knows when to slide over to help a teammate who got beat off the bounce, and has quick feet to go defend the pass to the perimeter.
Gary Brown III Gary Brown III 5'10" | PG Pasadena Memorial | 2024 TX 2024 5’10 Pasadena Memorial High School (TJ Ford Basketball 2023)
Gary is the next high level point guard to come out of the TJ Ford Basketball program. He is an incredibly dynamic and aware point guard who knows how to pass his teammates open, but also scores off the bounce with the best of them. He is a lightning quick point guard who creates separation with every crossover he makes. I was very impressed by the control he displayed when operating out of the pick and roll and the timely decision he made that round his teammates open at just the right time. Where Brown really makes his mark is his ability to hit shots from beyond the arc off the bounce. In one game he hit 7 threes, and finished with 28 points. He calmly manipulated his defender until they gave him just enough space to rise up. He even knocked one in from the logo which forced the other team to call a timeout and their coach demand he gets picked up as soon as he crosses half court. Gary is going to form a formidable duo at Pasadena Memorial High School with Robert Miller Robert Miller 6'11" | C Pasadena Memorial | 2024 State #64 Nation TX (6’10, 2024), if you are in the Houston area during the upcoming high school year be SURE to check out a game to see these two in person.
Jack Lamkin 2024 6’0 Foster High School, TX (CyFair Elite HTX 2023)
Jack is a sharp shooting point guard who thrives at making the right decisions every time down the floor. He knows when to get his teammates involved, or use his soft floater to get his shot off in the paint over taller defenders. I loved watching him manipulate the defense with his tight handle, he confidently got around defenders with ease. He knows how to use a power dribble to explode past his opponent on a crossover, and has a great change of direction and pace to keep the defense off balance. Lamkin is a true point guard with the decisions he makes every-time down the court and with how he keeps his teammates involved.
Randy Bennett Jr 2023 6’2 Braswell High School, TX (DC Kings Denton 2023)
Randy is an athletic slasher who thrives at getting into the paint, but also scores at will off the bounce from the midrange and beyond the arc. Where he makes is mark is floating towards the rim with his impressive athleticism. I was not surprised to find out he is a high level football player as well, using his athleticism and aggressiveness to get wherever he wants on the court is usually a pretty strong indicator of a football background! He has a non stop motor which allows him to relentlessly attack the basket. With the amount of success he had in the paint, the defense began to sag off of him to cut off driving lanes to the rim, which he calmly took and scored at a high clip in the midrange and beyond the arc.
Idalius Coleman 2023 6’3 Chapin High School, TX (EP Starz 2023)
Idalius is a high level player who thrives off of his ability to do it all in both the half court and the full court. He has all of the tools to become a dominant combo guard/ wing at the next level. He scored at will from all three levels of the floor, and has the confidence to shoot over the top of any defender. I loved how he hunted for his own shot from everywhere on the floor, he really took what the defense gave him every time down the court. He even showed an ability to play with his back to the basket at the high post and make good decisions or take a bigger and slower defender off the bounce. He has a fluid handle and makes great one handed passes up the court to his streaking teammates. He facilitates the game at an incredibly high level and can pass his teammates open.
