We start off with the 2023 class. This will be their last year in school and look to make some serious noise and hopefully lead their teams.
2023
Alex Wells Alex Wells 6'3" | SG Phhoenix Prep | 2024 State AZ Eastmark
A long and lean guard turned some heads recently. He looked more polished and was scoring from all three levels. He makes shots from mid to the three and can drive it and score. He does need to fill in but shows obvious upside.
Triston Walters Triston Walters 5'11" | CG Maricopa | 2023 State AZ Higley (Pictured)
A thick and tough scoring point guard showed off his improvements at a local Prep Hoops event. He consistently finds his teammates when he touches the paint with his tighter handle and strength and sees the play developing quickly. He can shoot it as well from the perimeter.
Ben Wilder Ben Wilder 6'5" | SF Bradshaw Mountain | 2023 State AZ Bradshaw Mountain
He has always been an athletic slasher to me, but he has now drastically improved his 3pt shooting. He gets proper elevation and fires away. He will still get to the basket and even throw it down on the break. He should be one of the best players next year in the Grand Canyon region.
RJ Lee RJ Lee 6'1" | CG Little Rock Central | 2023 AR Maricopa
A tough and physical combo guard will see his stock go up. He likes getting into the lane and scoring or facilitating but is a better shooter then I realized. He makes and takes more 3’s and is that secondary ball handler and thinker next to the Patton brothers for Copa.
Dwayne Jones Dwayne Jones 6'4" | SF Valley Vista | 2023 AZ Valley Vista
I have not seen many since March play harder and actually sustain it during nearly an entire game then Jones. He rebounds out of area, defends the 1-4 and will try and defend 5’s and has a physical approach on both sides of the court. He makes you feel his presence and that player may end up giving the ball up. He can score in transition and inside versus traffic plus make some deep shots.
Jayshawn James Jayshawn James 6'0" | SG Central | 2023 State AZ Central
A defensive scoring guard is another that is strong and tougher. He has a sturdy frame and is aggressive on defense. He is a top notch rebounder for his position and will score on put backs and can get downhill to score in traffic.
King Turner King Turner 6'5" | PG North Canyon | 2023 State AZ North Canyon
A lead guard with great size and length is improving his deep shooting. He squares up with better mechanics and it looks more consistent of a release. He gets into the lane and finishes with his height and is menace on defense with his quickness and instincts.
Zach Anderson Zach Anderson 6'3" | SG Desert Mountain | 2023 State AZ Desert Mountain
A dead-eye shooter has become stronger in the last year. He has that pretty shooting stroke to the three point line and can put the ball on the deck and get to the rim. He is an improved on-ball defender with his stronger frame and plays hard. He also plays a smart floor game on the ball but is probably best off.
