The Spring Grassroots season is quickly coming to an end. We only have one remaining stop on our PrepHoops Spring Circuit, and many other AAU events are taking a pause for June to give way to High School programs. For the last two months, I’ve had the opportunity to evaluate several local prospects, with an eye toward the rankings. Here’s a look at some players that have used the Spring to raise their stock.

6’0 PG NWA|Shadow Ridge 2023 - If the Spring is any indication of what Sweeney can do, then he’s poised for a big H.S month. The playmaking point guard has shown skill shooting the ball, as well as finishing at the rim. Sweeney has good size, and skill to play both backcourt spots and is poised to rise if he continues to improve.
Lenny Washingon 6’3 SF New Mexico Rebels| Organ Mountain 2025 - Washington has been terrific on the Prephoops circuit this season. He has good size for a wing and has shown athletic ability to go along with some skill. His size and ability to play above the rim, make him an intriguing prospect.

5’8 PG New Mexico Rebels| Atrisco Heritage 2025 (featured image) - He’s used his wiggle, and handle to separate himself from other jitterbug PGs. Despite playing mostly against older competition, Morris has scored the ball with ease, using both his shooting and speed to put points on the board.

5’11 SG Hard 2 Guard| Somerset Losee 2025 - It’s been his production that has allowed Jones to stand out. The guard just gets it done on both ends. He has become a dedicated driver, showing the ability to slash to the cup, and defensively he has developed into not only a lock down on-ball defender, but also a player with the instincts to jump passing lanes. Jones’ ability to turn defense into offense was on full display when I saw him in California.

looks ready. The PG is a clear stockriser not only because of his AAU play but also because it comes on the back of a solid H.S campaign. In an era of instant gratification, Jefferson played JV as a freshman for powerhouse Bishop Gorman. The PG used that time to hone his skills and dominate the competition, making it clear that he’s only playing JV because the Gaels were loaded. He’s always been a sharpshooter, however, he’s improved his playmaking skills and has turned himself into a dawg on the defensive end.
Prusant Choupra 6’6 PF D1 New Mexico|Menaul 2023 - Choupra is a throwback big with a hard hat mentality. His ability to battle down low and rebound is one of the main reasons for his stockriser status. He’s shown that his energy and effort are more than enough for him to hold his own against players of similar size, and he should be on track to rise through the summer and into the H.S season.
