Continue ReadingThe 2022 spring grassroots circuit has kicked into high gear. Last weekend the top 16U grassroots teams from southeastern PA were in action at several locations. From Albany, New York to Scranton, Pennsylvania to Hampton Roads, Virginia, our ranked 16U teams took the court against fierce competition.
Below are the southeastern Pennsylvania 16U grassroots team rankings for Week #4.
- Team Final EYBL: At the Gym Rats Live tournament, this Team Final squad posted a 4-0 record and captured the 16U division title. Sensational combo-guard Robert Wright III Robert Wright III 6'0" | PG Montverde Academy (FL) | 2024 State #35 Nation FL was selected as the age group MVP. Thomas Sorber Thomas Sorber 6'9" | C Archbishop Ryan | 2024 State #58 Nation PA and Jalil Bethea Jalil Bethea 6'4" | SG Archbishop Wood | 2024 State #5 Nation PA continue to play at a high-level this spring. Team Final 16s will play again on Memorial Day weekend at Nike EYBL Session 3 (Louisville, KY).
- Philly Revolution: The Revolution had this past weekend off. Next on the schedule for Josh Reed (Big Shots- Philly Pride age group MVP), Kevin McCarthy Kevin McCarthy 6'4" | SG Episcopal Academy | 2024 State PA and Devyn Wright-Myles is a trip to Spooky Nook for The Summit tournament (5/21 & 22). Highly rated prospect Jaden Murray Jaden Murray 6'7" | PF Archbishop Ryan | 2024 State PA will return from injury and make his spring circuit debut this coming weekend. So, this already stacked lineup will get even deeper.
- Philly Pride National UAA: At the KYDA Invitational tournament (PA) this Philly Pride group finished with a 3-1 record. Their only loss came at the hands of a high-powered NY Rens squad. Standout combo guard Ryan Williams Ryan Williams 6'3" | SG Malvern Prep | 2024 State PA and fast rising wing prospect Nelson Lamizana Nelson Lamizana 6'9" | PF West Chester Henderson | 2024 State PA registered impressive weekends. Lamizana proved his offensive skill set has taken a significant step forward. For the remainder of the spring/summer circuit, he will be a real asset for Philly Pride . This team next plays at the Hoop Group Jersey Shore Jam Fest (5/27-5/29).
- K-Low Elite 3SSB: Last weekend K-Low’s top 16U team traveled to Albany, New York for the Gym Rats Live event. They started the weekend with a win over the extremely talented Expressions Elite (MA) team. Over the two-day event they also dropped two close contests (both in OT) and finished the weekend at 2-2. Bucket getter Darren Williams Darren Williams 6'4" | SG Archbishop Ryan | 2024 State PA , shooting guard Reid Belcher Reid Belcher 5'11" | PG Friends Central | 2024 State PA , 6’8” wing shooter Pearse McGuinn Pearse McGuinn 6'8" | PF Cardinal O'Hara | 2024 State PA and point guard Matt Lange were impressive against national level competition.
- East Coast Power-Danzig: ECP-Danzig had a “bye” this past weekend. They lace ‘em up again for The Summit tournament out at Spooky Nook (PA) on May 21st. Point guard Billy Rayer Billy Rayer 5'10" | PG Haverford Boys | 2024 State PA , combo guard Matt McCarthy and 6’7” rising star Calvin Szoradi Calvin Szoradi 6'7" | C Episcopal Academy | 2024 State PA will be looking to bring home the hardware from that event.
