Continue ReadingThe SEC Liberty Division is a loaded one this coming year and East Orange is one of the schools that returns the most talent. They went 15-9 and are slated to return a dozen players, including some young players to watch. Their levels for college will be determined by their response to expanded roles the next two years.
While we’re still months away from full team previews, every now and then we come across teams that need to have their own posts during the spring and summer as far as who to follow on the circuit and into the next year and EOC is one of those schools that is overflowing with options right now.
Ebrahim Kaba Ebrahim Kaba 6'7" | SF Peddie | 2024 #302 Nation NJ | 6’6” | F | East Orange
We saw Kaba most recently at the Hoop Group Pittsburgh Jam Fest with Sandy Pyonin’s legendary Roadrunners program. He’s a tough player who has good handles for a bigger player and is a hard nosed defender. Crafty around the bucket but also has range that extends beyond the arc. Had 22&10 vs Newark Tech and hit for 15 vs Ridgewood in states. A continued strong summer with the Roadrunners and a good senior year in a very difficult conference should see Kaba’s stock rise towards interest from D2 schools. That’s the Sandy Pyonin impact.
Letrell Duncan| 6’1” | G | East Orange 2025
We’ve said all spring that freshmen made a splash all over the state—The biggest schools even had them contribute. Duncan found a way to get involved in every game, went over double digits a handful of times. He hustles on defense and is unafraid to hit the boards hard. He’s got range beyond the arc and he’ll only improve as he continues to expand his skillset in the mid-range and driving to the hole. He had double digits against quality opponents in West Side and Immaculate Conception(11 each night).
Eugene Byass Eugene Byass 6'0" | CG East Orange | 2024 State NJ | 6’0” | G | East Orange 2024
Byass has a developed frame physically that will allow him to be an impact player at the guard position. A physical player who is a tough defender. He can hit it from deep and will be able to use his size to attack the hole. He showed flashes of his potential as a sophomore, scoring 17 vs Franklin and 25 vs Paramus Catholic.
Kaiyri Barkley |6’0” | G | East Orange 2024
Barkley played a limited role as a sophomore behind some senior guards but he’ll be in the mix for an expanded role as a junior on an EOC team that should make big noise the next two years. A physical guard who gets to the rim through contact. He had 13 vs North Star and 10 vs Orange.
