Cole Rhett Cole Rhett 6'7" | C Bishop Watterson | 2023 State OH , 6’8 C Bishop Watterson 2023, Nova Village-Taylor: The future Toledo Rocket on the gridiron showed off his basketball talents on Saturday, with a stat sheet filled game. Rhett had a double double with points and rebounds, but also probably threw five or more assists as well. Rhett is too big for most post players to stop from grabbing offensive rebounds and his vision to make the right read helps him reach an impressive offensive ceiling.
Grayson Steury Grayson Steury 5'11" | CG Ashland | 2023 State OH , 5’11 CG Ashland 2023 Mid Ohio Pumas Price: Steury was basically automatic from downtown in the game I caught, making it rain almost every time he was left open. With a quick and repeatable release, Steury has one of the prettiest and most effective jumpers in Ohio’s 2023 class. A limited athlete, Steury looks to distribute when he gets into the paint against taller rim protectors. I’d like to watch Steury a little more as I’m not sure if he’s more of a point at the next level or a shooting guard. He’s shown the ability to stretch the floor, but added play-making skills would allow him to see the floor earlier at the next level.
Julian Mitchell Julian Mitchell 6'5" | SF Lakota East | 2023 State OH , 6’4 SF Lakota East 2023 R4L: Mitchell has had a big time spring on the Prep Hoops Circuit, but this was the first time I got to watch him this spring as he was out during the first circuit session I attended. Mitchell has very long arms and a skinny frame that should be capable of adding muscle to once he arrives at a college program. Mitchell is a good shooter, with a high release point on his shot. At his size and potential for athletic improvements, I expect Mitchell to be a late-blooming prospect who gets some heavy attention from small school programs.
Romel Hightower Romel Hightower 6'5" | SF Toledo Start | 2023 State OH , 6’5 SF Toledo Scott 2023 CCB: Hightower is an impressive athlete who had numerous dunks for his squad during a Toledo Vs Toledo battle with Hopson Elite. Hightower is a slashing wing who uses his athletic gifts to rise over defenders and finish with his left hand. Hightower made some plays defensively and looks to start the fast break with steals. Hightower is one of the more athletic wings in Ohio’s 2023 class and should be on regional college radars.
Antwaun Hathcock Antwaun Hathcock 6'6" | PF Ponitz | 2023 State OH , 6’5 PF Ponitz 2023 Hopson Elite: Hopson Elite played great TEAM basketball in their win over CCB, it feels a little unfair to have to select one kid out of the bunch. However, this article would feel like it’s missing something if there wasn’t a Hopson Elite mention. I selected Hathcock for his numerous dunks, including one on the side of a CCB defenders head that got his bench pumped. Hathcock showed me a lot of the similar skills that had me intrigued the first time I saw him, being a play finisher around the basket.
