The 15U Wisconsin Crusaders team is an intriguing team I’ve watched over the past couple weeks. They have some very good talent, but have come up short late in games. However, 6’3 Wing Keegan Vankauwenberg has been one of my favorite players. He’s got terrific upside and showed that early this morning. He’s been one of the most confident shooters i’ve seen in his class. He had 22 points in the first half and found buckets from all over the floor. Vankauwenberg hit five long-balls in the first half and was almost unstoppable. But at the same time, a young backcourt duo of Michigan products Phoenix Glassnor Phoenix Glassnor 6'0" | PG Warren De La Salle | 2025 State MI and Chris McLavish Jr Chris McLavish Jr 5'8" | PG Kell | 2025 State GA shined. Glassnor had 10 points to start with some nice shooting a ton of quickness inside. The confidence of McLavish was unbelievable. He had four 3’s in the first half, and his shots were nothing but net. The game was tied at 42 and Vankauwenberg had 30 pts. In the final minutes, Oskar Kangas Oskar Kangas 6'6" | SF Iron Mountain | 2025 State MI with a 3 to take a 1-pt lead for the crusaders and then Vankauwenberg with a bank shot to make the lead 3. After Glassnor ties it, Vankauwenberg hits another triple. Mclavish hits two three throws and forces a turnover with 30 seconds left. McLavish then hits another 3 to make it a 2-point lead for CMB. 2025 CMB win 60-57 over Crusaders. Chris McLavish Jr Chris McLavish Jr 5'8" | PG Kell | 2025 State GA had 21 pts and came through at the end with some big free throws. Phoenix Glassnor Phoenix Glassnor 6'0" | PG Warren De La Salle | 2025 State MI had 23 and displayed a variety of skills. Excellent slasher. Kaukana (WI) 2025 F Keegan Vankauwenberg finished with 35 points this morning despite the loss. He was absolutely on fire from all three levels this afternoon.
Young DePaul Prep Stars Shine For Hoopademix (IL)
My old high school has produced some high-level basketball talent over the past few years. The next wave involving guys like guard Brock Suvarna and forward George Richardson were spectacular in two games. Richardson was hot in the paint to start off the first game, but Suvarna took over this game in a big win over Michigan Major. He forced turnovers and filled some great holes in transition. Suvarna was making plays from all over the floor. Found some nice assists in the second half and picked off several passes. He finished that game with 20 points to lead the team. In the 2nd game, Richardson stole the show. The 6’4” forward already had 28 points early in the 2nd half for Hoopademix in their second game against All-In Sports. He’d finish with 32 in a 62-32 blowout win. He did everything possible in the paint with rebounds, blocked shots, excellent footwork, and of course, finding the bottom of the net, to help his team win two games. Bright future for my old school.
Glassnor, McLavish shine again for CMB
Phoenix Glassnor Phoenix Glassnor 6'0" | PG Warren De La Salle | 2025 State MI was off to another spectacular start He got the line, finished through contact, and made a couple jumpers to give them a 12-point first half lead over TC Elite. Chris McLavish Jr Chris McLavish Jr 5'8" | PG Kell | 2025 State GA made three first half triples. His third came in the final seconds of the opening half. Donovan Hamlin Donovan Hamlin 6'4" | SF Flint Carman-Ainsworth | 2025 State MI also had a nice half. Although playing more of a forward, he has tremendous upside to be a combo-guard. I loved his transition slam, along with his rebounding and distribution outside the perimeter. This gave McLavish many scoring opportunities. He also provided some great lanes for Glassnor, Who showed some terrific slashing ability. But Glassnor and McLavish balled out all morning. Every shot for McLavish is nothing but net. Glassnor is super crafty with terrific footwork. He got buckets from all three scoring levels. Glassnor finished with 28 points.
2025 West Michigan Lakers Take Down BNB
6’2” F BJ Walker BJ Walker 6'2" | PF Zeeland East | 2025 State MI playing tough inside to start for the Lakers. He had 6 early points and a nice block. Guard Issac Lee had 7 early points with some excellent distribution on offense. His defense was terrific too with a couple steals. Lee began to extend his range in the 2nd half. Pull-up jumper followed by some more steals. Has really nice footwork and broke someones ankles. They mostly had a 10-12 pt lead, but guard Brendan Cargill exploded with 8 points in a minute. Found scoring opportunities from all three levels and had the lead to over 20 at one point. They won 64-46 and Cargill dropped 16. He didn’t score until his 8-point burst.
