Peyton Ruel, Hardwood Midwest 25″
Peyton was one of the best shooters I saw at the Rumble In The Rapids. He knocked down perimeter shots from the corner, at the top of the key, and from the elbow extended. Peyton has a quick shot release and gets good lift on his jumper, and can knock down shots even if he’s off-balance. Peyton also showed an ability to kick out to his teammates when he drove the lane.
Sam De Roos, West Michigan Lakers (Gold) 24″
Sam played with great energy and brought constant hustle to the weekend, helping his West Michigan Lakers team go 3-1. Sam has a sturdy 6’6 frame and uses his length to alter shots both in the paint and on the perimeter. Sam’s ability to close out on perimeter shooters stood out to me the most. Sam did a nice job of anticipating cross-court passes and closing in on open shooters without fouling.
Evan Josza, Hardwood Midwest 25″
Evan is another lanky prospect that displayed great defense in several aspects this past weekend. Evan did a great job of contesting without fouling, altering numerous shots in the paint. Down the stretch against Hardwood Midwest, Evan grabbed two 50/50 balls in back-to-back possessions, essentially sealing the game for MBA.
Johnny Edwards, United Pursuit 25″
Johnny did the majority of his work in transition in the game I saw him live. He knocked down several floaters in traffic, displaying good touch on his shots in the paint. Johnny showed good speed in transition and a willingness to get out on the break, leading to easy buckets for United Pursuit.
Caleb Plune, United Pursuit 25″
Caleb was another standout from United Pursuit 25″. Caleb made a handful of perimeter jumpers against MBA Regional 25″. His successful shooting led to MBA’s defense adjusting to not give Caleb open looks. Caleb showed great awareness by adjusting to the defense, shot-faking, driving the lane, and finding his teammates with dump-off passes for easy buckets in the paint.
Isaac Lee Isaac Lee 6'0" | PG Byron Center | 2025 State MI , West Michigan Lakers Blast 25″
Isaac showed patience in the halfcourt and did a good job of reading the defense and taking what was given. Isaac knifed his way through the defense and finished a couple of dribble drives through contact. His ability to convert layups through traffic was equally notable.
