Let’s dive into some recent news.
2022 Kareem Barnett Kareem Barnett 6'2" | CG Hallandale Highschool | 2022 State FL committed to Frank Phillips College (TX). The 6-foot-2 guard averaged 7.7 points and 3.2 rebounds per game while shooting 49 percent from the field for Hallandale this season. Barnett also played for Mater Lakes Academy as a junior. He is a high-level athlete, especially in the open floor. Barnett has also shown ability to attack the rim off the dribble in the halfcourt. I think junior college will help him hone in his basketball skill. Overall, Barnett’s upside is something to monitor.
2022 Logan Knight Logan Knight 6'10" | C Kings Academy | 2022 FL recently committed to Barry University. The 6-foot-10 big man helped King’s Academy to a 20-7 record this past season. He also received a verbal offer from Lynn University in late March. Knight is a capable double-double and rim protector. He also graduates with a 3.36 GPA.
2022 Aidan Abell Aidan Abell 6'6" | SG Westminster Academy | 2022 State FL committed to Walsh University (OH). The North Canton school competes at the D2 level in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC). Abell was one of the better unsigned prospects left in the region. The 6-foot-6 shooting guard averaged 11.6 points and 3.4 rebounds per game for Westminster Academy. In addition, Abell went 24-of-57 (42 percent) from deep. Walsh went 22-6 and finished 20th in the final NABC Coaches poll.
Former 2020 Park Vista grad Hantz Louis-Jeune earned an offer from Florida A&M. The 6-foot-6 guard played his freshman season at Northwest Kansas Tech. Louis-Jeune averaged 9.9 points and 4.5 rebounds per game for the Mavericks. At Park Vista, he averaged 15.2 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.
Big news dropped when 2023 5-star recruit Marvel Allen Marvel Allen 6'4" | SG Ft. Lauderdale Calvary Christian | 2023 State #46 Nation FL decided to transfer from Fort Lauderdale Calvary Christian Academy to Montverde Academy. The 6-foot-4 prospect helped the Eagles to its second consecutive state championship. Allen joins a Montverde program that recently won the 2022 GEICO Nationals tournament. He holds offers from Georgetown, Alabama, Boise State, Clemson, Florida, Florida Atlantic, Georgia, Maryland, Kansas, Illinois, Miami, Memphis, Michigan, Ole Miss, Ohio State, Stanford, Penn State, USF and Virginia Tech. He also holds an offer from LSU. Allen decommitted from the Tigers back in March after the program fired head coach Will Wade.
