Here we’ll take a look at a few of the most intriguing stock risers from the month of May.
Jakobe Cavett | Point Guard | Clinton, MS | Mississippi Wildcats 2025
Pure basketball player from top to bottom with all the intangibles, Cavett plays like an extension of the coach on the floor. He’s the type of floor general that’s wildly active and productive on the court in all areas of the game, Cavett has had days where he flat out led the Wildcats in rebounds, steals, assists, and points. The 5-foot-10-inch guard puts an unbelievable amount of pressure on the interior defense as he gets to the rim at will, especially in one-on-one situations. Jakobe has proven to be powerful and strong in the air and extremely explosive on the ground. This kid is by far the fastest player on any court he steps on and his speed is what makes him so unstoppable on a straight line drive and in the open court where Cavett appears faster and quicker with the ball than without. Cavett’s remarkable speed also gets him from end to end in a small number of dribbles, his ability to go coast to coast after a steal or a rebound is absolutely uncanny and a marvel to behold, and if he ever had to make a move he changed pace, direction, and turned the corner while continuing to attack at top speed. As a facilitator, Jakobe is highly unselfish with the rock, he has a solid basketball IQ, good court vision, along with the ability to make tough passes, and spots mismatches and immediately looks to exploit them until the defense adjusts. Jakobe Cavett is a reliable floor general in every way possible, he even shows up in the clutch when you need him the most.
Jevaughn Martin Jr. | Shooting Guard | Princeton, TX | Valor/Union 2025 Purple
High volume high percentage shot taker with perimeter scoring potential. Jevaughn Martin can create a shot for himself off the dribble fairly well, often making something out of nothing particularly when he drives left, he’s always able to get to his spots within the teeth of the defense and in the mid-range. You must be cautious of his mid-range jumper at all times but you really cannot allow this lefty guard to get the ball anywhere near the paint or else he will likely put points on the board. Martin Jr. has a great touch around the rim despite the situation along with a tendency to draw a foul just about every time he’s on the attack, especially inside of the paint where Jevaughn did a great job of leaning into a defender for contact on the way up. Good footwork and very agile on the dribble penetration, his length gives him an elite upside as a scorer, Martin uses his long strides perfectly to get from point A to point B. Also, at 6-foot-4, Jevaughn Martin is already a lob threat on the inbounds, he’s someone who can quickly get off the ground, secure the rock, and try to get a shot in while hanging in mid-air.
Jayden Domino Jayden Domino 6'3" | SF South Grand Prairie | 2025 TX | Forward | Grand Prairie, TX | Victory Academy 2025
This highly productive individual is always an X-factor that contributes across the board with a strong impact on each and every aspect of the game. Although Jayden Domino Jayden Domino 6'3" | SF South Grand Prairie | 2025 TX doesn’t need the ball to have an effect on the outcome, there’s a notable change of pace, physicality, effort, and scoring whenever he’s not on the floor. The freshman forward currently displays a terrific physical profile standing at 6-foot-2 with ideal size and build combined with the next level athleticism at his position. Domino is a very unique player, one of the most explosive, most impactful, and most versatile athletes in every tournament he appears in. This two-way wing can defend whoever you send his way, guards, forwards, and centers and he can also score off of post-ups as well as spot-up jumpers. Outstanding competitive spirit on both ends, if there was a turnover Jayden was usually the cause of it or right in the middle of the chaos. Domino intercepted passes at a high rate and consistently made an effort to go after every rebound he could by playing with force and boxing out with intensity. When looking to create his own shot, he powers his way inside or to a hot spot in the mid-range where he can rise up and shoot over top of the defense. In transition, Jayden’s knack for running the floor with a purpose almost always leads to easy and open fastbreak buckets for him game after game. Perfect plug-in player, his skillset can fit into any system. Domino is quite possibly the best glue guy in the 15U division and maybe the state.
Coleman Ridley | Forward | Oklahoma City, OK | JEB Elite 2025
Coleman Ridley is someone that should be known as an all-around basketball player who can do everything on the basketball court at a high level. Ridley has a mature game, he plays poised, balanced, under control, and stuffs the stat sheet each game. Active rebounder, he leaps off the floor quickly off one and two feet and attacks every board in his vicinity. Defensively, Ridley proves to be a highly versatile defender with the talent to defend every position from 1 through 5 without skipping a beat. He shows the foot speed and lateral quickness to stay in front of opposing guards and the strength and physicality to compete amongst the bigs underneath the basket. On the offensive side of the ball, Coleman gets it done as a consistent scorer from all three levels, Ridley looks to take full advantage of mismatches, often leading his man into the post where he’s phenomenal at finishing through traffic with power or up-and-under layups. The 6-foot-3-inch forward is extremely effective in pick-and-roll and pick-and-pop situations, he’s a great floor spacer who can do a lot of damage spotting up, he has the capability of knocking down jumpers while coming off the screen, and from dribble pull-ups in the mid-range after attacking closeouts, Ridley can produce a bucket from anywhere on the floor whether he’s scoring of facilitating. Timely and precise passer, Coleman has shown exceptional court vision and knows where his teammates are at all times.
Zyon Cato | Center | Arlington, TX | Tarrant Elite 2025
6-foot-7-inch Zyon Cato showcased an abundance of potential on the defensive end of the floor as a dynamic rim protector with scary length and even scarier physicality, hustle, and effort. Cato’s the type of player you need on the floor at all times, he affects the game in so many different ways that there’s a noticeable change in production the moment he leaves the floor. Solid instincts and reaction skills, Cato excelled whenever he was needed as a help-side defender altering interior shots with his perfect timing. Zyon Cato is an extremely raw prospect that is still evolving, his game can be expanded, molded, and developed into a formidable player at just about any position.
